I would appreciate some thought on these please (non branded crash bungs).

Should I stump up the extra for R&G's?

Never heard of them or seen them before, not sure if anyone on here would have tested them.

I've got RnGs and am on my 3rd set (non fault accidents apart from a lowside!)

I've lowsided and it just took a wedge out of the material, the entire bike was fine, it just slid on that. The bolt didn't bend and I could have used it again but opted for a replacement so if it happened again I'd have more material to slide on. They are also designed to absorb impact, another reason for replacing.

I've also had a car do a U turn on me, I hit the LHS of my bike, RnG survived. Bike landed on the RHS quite quickly and that survived too saving damage to plastics etc.

The other time was a big van pulled across my lane from the left into a side junction on the right. I hit it quite hard, it bent the RnG backwards from the impact but saved the rest of my bike. Having removed it (easy to do even damaged) the bolt was obviously bent, but nothing on the bike was and no damage to the engine casings.

On these experiences I'm sticking with RnG, also having seen other peoples crashes with cheap crash protectors, they either snap off and do nothing or break the casings.

RnG set for my CBR was only £54 from: (very good on prices for anything by the way)

my VFR came fitted with what i thought were crash bungs when i bought it off the dealer... turns out they were just friggin mushrooms bolted to the fairing!

slid it a few weeks ago and the mushroom goes straight through the fairing panel, saved the rest of it from scratches but now i have a fucking spiderweb of cracks around the feckin thing.

Probably not.

I've decided saving £40ish on bungs could be more costly in the event of a spill. (I worded that poorly but you know what I mean). I was wondering what peoples thoughts on the materials were but I think I'll play safe and get the R&G's for the sake of £40 odd with them being proven. Smile
