So the chain my R6 needs replacing, I have ordered a new one, but due to price I have changed from the standard 532 to 530

However, I believe the standard R6 2002 532 chain has 116 links however, the chain I have been supplied with has 120 links is this likely to be a problem, before I call them tomorrow?

Just that if you run it with 120 links its got 4 extra links and you will reach maximum adjustment faster as you wont be all the way forwards on the adjusters in the first place, youll be at like half adustment ifnot more due to the 4 extra links.

Will probably take it back on Saturday then, and get correct one, otherwise will end up out of adjustment too soon

If they dont have one in stock and you brought it from a proper garage that have a workshop too then they should be able to just take the links out to make it the right length needed.

Alternatively ive got a DID 530 50VM Extra Heavy Duty Gold X-Ring chain kicking arround that I dont need if its only a chain you need and your not doing a full chain and sprocket replacement.

Just remove four links. If you don't have a link splitter then grind the head off two pins, lever the link open and turn it round with pliers enough so you can pop out the pin.

Hope you've ordered new sprockets as well as the chains are different measurements roller size etc, that may be why there is extra links. You'll really have to try it before you go taking out links.

Hi

530 and 532 both have the same pitch. The difference is the roller diameter.

All the best
