Hello eveyone
My carb on my ktm keeps dumping fuel eveywhere,so my nataural reaction is to assume the floats are sticking so i stripped and cleaned the carb and then put it all back together pluged the fuel in and turned the petcock, kicked it over and it was fine until i gave a little twist of the throttle and then it just started pissing out from the over flow,So still assuming the floats were sticking i then proceeded to Loosen the carb clamps and spin the carb sideways.
Removed the 4 screws holding the float bowl and removed the bowl,
Sprayed carb cleaner into the seat the float needle sits in.
Rotated the carb to it's normal position and turned on fuel and
Raised the floats by hand and the fuel should stop flowing. wich it did so im now at the point where im really confused i even tried adjusting the float postion so it would under fuel slightly to see if that made a difference, wich it didnt and it did the exact same thing.

Could it be that the float valve jet has got something stuck on the seat?
Have you blown it through with a compressed airline?
Does the float valve have a ridge where it seats into the valve body?
Have a look see on www.ktmforum.co.uk for similar questions and answers. ____________________ Just talk bikes. What else is there?

It's not uncommon I believe.
I usually just whacked mine with something .
A better solution - maybe check general alignment? I wonder if the pivot has got a bit slack at some point so it's not perfectly aligned?
The KTM talk forum also has masses of advice (more knowledge than the UK KTM forum, but of course less good for British related stuff.) |

I tried thumping it with a spanner to see if it would unstick and it didnt :/ but thats definetly whats up with it,it has to be i theres nothing else inside the pwk 38 to make it do that.

What I did to a dodgy chink carb was to remove the float and shave about 1mm-1.5mm off the edge as it kept sticking on the side of the bowl Worked until he sold it... so about 6 months.
Thats not a route I'd choose to go down usually, but hey it worked |
