I used to cry whenever I listened to this..... Occasionally I still do. Shhh!

Everything in my record collection is cool.

The Laughing Gnome
It was probably the first "pop" song I ever liked.

(the puns are REALLY bad, but at the time I thought they were hilarious ... but then, I was only about 9 at the time Laughing )

Yet if you were at a mates house and swigging red wine and he had a superb hi-fi and sat you in the sweet-spot, you may think otherwise.

My friend has done this to me quite abit. Sits me down, all comfy, nice lightshow and candles then puts David Bowie on. He knows I don't get Bowie..Never moved me yet he persists in rooting out old LPs and I hate myself for tapping my toe.

Thinking on...I did think the LP 2112 by Canadian nobbers Rush was good..for about 2 weeks then my mate played me some Dead Boys.

So here's some Dead Boys.

Gotta love the intro. Mr. Green

Well if you are gonna be all trippy about it.

By the time I got to about 13, I had headed in the direction of Rick Wakeman, and was getting off on Jane Seymour on a regular basis.

Listened to it again for the first time in about 35 years, 6 months ago, and discovered I still love it Wub

For me it was when house music became mainstream nightclub music in the late 80's (when I was at uni)
At the time it was the best thing ever, but listening back to it now just sounds like a VERY basic amateur attempt at mixing Embarassed

The song at the end of 'The Land Before Time', Diana Ross - If we hold on together

No power now listening as an adult, especially compared to stuff that really does resonate, such as Bruce Springsteen - Into the fire. And she can't hit her own high notes. Fool.

That was awesome and is still awesome, jacked up on heroin or not.

Same as this is still fucking mental ballistic, if your full of speed or not. "On your marks, Get set... Bang!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCMj0clUdq4

Some music has dated badly, but as fashions come and go, the same goes with musical taste. One minute its long passe and in the grave, the next it's retro cool (and deservedly so)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWTf0DIoqTk

Dated as fuck, shitty tinny production, caused more shit in my then home than crap, but I still love the pure energy, and the billion and one bands (and genre) it inspired.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIB2P3-4A8k

Lots of what was shit then is still shit now. The only thing that despoils any of the past music I like(d) is long past it bands reforming to cash in, and playing tired, worn out, dull sets to old farts who should know better instead of trying to recapture a youth that has long gone. The classics in my mind are still classic, and if ya don't like it

I have really wide and varied taste when it comes to music, so there isn't really a great deal in my collection that doesn't get dusted off every now and then.

The only group I can think of that I'm not that keen on would be Iron Maiden - I really loved them when I was about 12, but now whilst I can't say I actively dislike them, they're just a bit 'meh'.

HTH Mr. Green

My mates missus reckons this is the best tune for making housework fast and fun. You'd have to have it done in 1:15 tho, maybe another 0:15 if you added the other track on that side Razz

When I was 10, Seal's Kiss From A Rose was the most moving song I'd ever heard. It touched my very soul!!! I used to sing along to it with my eyes closed and everything! Now I just cringe whenever I hear it.

^^This.

I love a bit of Bowie, however, since watching the excellent parody of him on 'Stella Street', whenever I hear him I get the urge to do the 'karate hands' and say 'Day-Vid Bow-eee, Ohhhhhh'.

Memory of a Free Festival

Bowie inna di Jungle

Whilst I'm pretty indifferent to Nirvana, I think they managed a cracking cover of The Man who sold the World.
