Going for my first bike MOT tomorrow. Bit of a silly question but would I get any marks for not having a tax disc holder? Reason being is that my one was rusted so bad when I brought the bike I took it off and now its buried somewhere and lost (or I may have chucked it). I have been meaning to buy a new one but never got round too it in the end, I know I should! Very Happy

Any other tips for a bike's MOT?

No you won't fail because of it, I don't display tax on any of my bikes and they go straight through.

I'm not sure on the rules though, but to be sure just take your tax disc and some sellotape with you and if they say it's an issue you can tape it to the tank.

Tips? Give it the once over, check all the lights and indicators work on all settings inc. numberplate light. Make sure your plate is legal, make sure your exhaust has a bung in it if you have a fussy tester.

Ensure the horn works.

Make sure your tyres, brake pads have plenty of meat on them. Check your steering for notchyness.

You're fine: an MOT is a pre-requisite to getting VED, not the other way around.

As above, I don't display tax and it's never been mentioned in an MOT.
