Went today:
Nice to meet James, we resolved my exhaust issue and had a good chat about carb jetting, great job and price.
It's a nice spacoius and clean unit, been wanting to use Rock Oils for a while, and theres a good selection there cheaper than i can find anywhere.
This place can be a real jem for me and many, be it doing it yourself or with James help, and at a rate you can't fault.
I'll be back in a few weeks for a few jobs to be done, at last a recommended place in Coventry with a fair and personal, trustworthy service.
A ++ Thanks again James .. see you in a few weeks, will let you know in good time to come during a quieter time.

The following is James New venture description and contact details.
As of the 18th of October I'm opening a specialist workshop for bikes & cars, where ramps & tools are available for use to the general public. Its warm, dry, and teas & coffees are also on tap (for a small donation!). Prices start at £10 per hour for ramp usage, and there will be discounts dependant on the amount of time needed. You can choose to bring your own tools, or use a standard set we have, plus rent any specialist equipment from my tool set.
I also sell a plethora of Rock oil products on-site, and an expert hand will also be there should you need any help.
If you need any other parts, such as oil filters, batteries, and such, we can get those for you too, in advance of your arrival. We also have a dedicated tyre bay for bikes too, something I've been doing for a while now.
We'll be based in the Midlands, at 190 Fletchamstead Highway, Coventry, CV4 7BB

I don't think it spamworthy.
I'd love to hear about something similar down this way instead of having to do emergency repairs outside in the rain.
It's a useful place, used to use one for cars in Bristol until it turned into a bodyshop ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? It's in the Mids section, and putting it here was a suggestion from mods, more like an extra helping hand to promote a good thing imo and others. ____________________ Jogging on, destination living. |

No .. fuckoff ...
Besides liking the bloke, i really want it to succed, and are therefore quite prepared to help plug the place for him.
The service concept and prices are biker friendy imo, but at the same time, the place needs custom and a loyal userbase to suceed.
I buy Rock Oil from him at about 11 quid a litre full syn 2 stroke, gear oil etc ...
As you've said, tyres, prices, fitted / balanced and new valves is very competitive.
In time, IF it works out and becomes a sustainable business, then i can ask him about forum support, but until then, we have this thread.
I think peeps can think to themselves:
I'll go there, hire a lift and tools for an hour, service me bike using quality oil, and stick some new hoops on.
In / out, job done and money saved in the long run.
Perhaps timing work with a trip that brings you nearby to what is a central easily excessable location via many motorway's, then just off ONE main a road, that be the A45.
To do the above. especially in winter, for peeps that have no garage. lifts etc is a great position between total at home competent bikers, and full on garage work at 50 per hour labour.
Many bikers are a bit wary of wielding the spanner, like i was, this is a good stepping stone for doing stuff yourself, learning and saving cash, with James as a backup to advise and correct or indeed carry out / finish a job himself on our behalf.
Take forks for instance, if you turnup or have him supply the oil and or seals, then it's only 30 quid done, as opposed to 60 - 90 quid in a garage.
That's one example, and there are many afaik.
I can understand peeps thinking spam, etc, but on BCF, we've always supported good things for bikers, and the small business trying to succeed.
All of the above is why i'm supporting it so much, but above all i'm doing it for ME, all else is a byproduct i don't mind being associated with. ____________________ Jogging on, destination living. |
