As stated i got pulled tonight on the way the gf's, they were
Parked on the side of the road in a unmarked n were standing behind the car untill i got close and i was told i was doing 40 in a 30 and he was going to give me 3 points and a £60 fine, its the first time iv ever been stopped in 3 years of rydeing and now i dno what i do with my insureance the cop told me because it was my first time and i was polite and compliant they might give me that speed awareness course but iv gotta go in sometime this week to give in my licence then have 28 day to pay he said then they decide if there gunna give the the course option so if i get given that option whats it gunna cost me and do the points go away, also should i wait till i know if ill get the course to tell insureance or do i have to tell them asap??

Sorry for any spelling mistakes i refuse to turn auto correct on with my phone

Rest assured that the powerless peon that pulled you will have no say in whether you get to give money to the Chief Constable's brother-in-law who inevitably runs the Speed Awareness Scam. He certainly doesn't have any power to "fine" you, unless the whole court system was abolished while I was typing this.

Produce your license at the Cop Shop, say nothing more than you've already said, and await their response, if any. This is such a trivial bookkeeping 'offence' that you shouldn't give it more than 5 minutes consideration, let alone tell anyone else about it.

Speed awareness course = No Points and about £85

Points and fine is just that, £60 from your pocket and a chat with your insurer, you say you have been rideing for 3 years so 3 points probably wont have much if any affect on your premium, and still 9 to go Thumbs Up

Personally, I did the course, it scared me....... Just how clueless the other people in the room were, the woman sat next to me thought the national speed limit sign ment no entery Shocked

I would wait until, you receive your license back from the police before contacting your insurers. As you have already stated you may be offered a speed awareness "course".

A friend of mine recently did one, it wasn't really a course, more like a 2 or 3 hour lecture. Showing videos etc. If you are offered it do it.

Points are a right pain on your license and have upped my insurance premiums. What is annoying is that insurance companies want to know about them for 5 years, when they only count for 3.

Apparently you can send your license back after 4 years, so that your convictions don't show on your counterpart license. But i've never bothered, I've always figured I will get done again and then my previous ones will come off.

What exactly did they give you in terms of paperwork?

Did they read you a PACE caution (You have the right to remain silent etc.) then tell you "We are reporting you for the offence of..." and ask you to comment.

What piece of equipment did they use to measure your speed and did they show it to you?

Did you admit to doing 40mph?

EDIT: 40mph seems a very round number to me. I've been stopped for speeding twice and done for it once. Once I was doing 98.6mph and the other time I was doing 95.4mph.

Tell you what. That jumble of virtually incoherant texting is so difficult to read I'm not going to bother.

You really need to learn to type better on your phone. Autocorrect or no, you're just being lazy. Your phone doesn't abbreviate "you" to u and it doesn't stop you using punctuation.

If you want other people to take their time to give you advice, you should take the time to ask for that advice in a clear and structured manner.

I did do a brief description of the mental image your posting style gives me of you but I decided it was bordering on abusive.#

Happily, it is not just my problem. Carry on posting like that and the karma-bot will take your green blobs away and make you preview and spell-check all your posts.

If it's hard for me to read, it's virtually impossable for someone who is dyslexic.

It must be that rare form of dyslexia which makes you use "TXT SPK" type abbreviations.

I don't see why being autistic would make you incapable of using punctuation. It might make you not consider how this would effect other peoples perception of your writing or give you difficulty communicating what you want to. Any autistic people I've known who were far enough along the spectrum to be allowed to drive were all very meticulous about things like writing.

Or it could be you are an idle yoof who can't be bothered, as evidenced by your own admission that you posted that message on a smartphone while lying in bed.

Whatever you did actually type it on, it has a querty keyboard because there are quite a few "fat finger" typos (which I'll admit, I do quite a few of too) in your posts too which makes your use of "u" and lack of full stops even worse.

You'll be pleased to hear I'm neither dyslexic nor autistic. I do however have have an extreme INTP personality type so I might as well have Aspbergers because the prospect of potentially being wrong and offending you doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm arrogant enough to believe I'm right.

Have a nice day. Very Happy

I have to agree with stinkwheel.

The abuse the English language gets from text speak, mobile phones, americanisms and spelling from the illiterate products of our education system is something this country should should hang its head in shame over.

In the school where my wife works, the majority of immigrants' children, to whom English is a second language, speak it better than the native born children.

So why won't you turn on auto correct on your phone? If you have to use the horrible thing to connect with this forum, at least use it to its full potential.

Sorry for being a grumpy old fart, but there you go. In my defence it is only 04:40 and I'm off to work.

Sad days

OK, that's an offer. You can choose to pay the FPN and accept 3 points on your license, or you can oblige them to prosecute you. It's more of a ball ache and a gamble, but they might screw up the prosecution. If you haven't been offered a Speed Awareness Scam by now then it's not likely to be on the cards, but you can always look for a number on the FPN and call and ask.

In future, decline to look at their (alleged) evidence. That helps them, not you. Your responses should be "Yes, I know what the speed limit is here. Yes, I know what speed that I was doing," and then zip your lip.

Where may I benefit from such information? Would it be the same thing if I received a NIP through the post? I got flashed in Limehouse Tunnel and I am dreading it! Is it likely that I will be fined with 3 points on my licence?
