Hey guys, what do you use to protect your bike against rust? Other than a cover... I mean when you're riding and it starts raining. Are there any decent sprays or anything, and if so, any tips on using/applying them?

Cheers Smile

ACF50 is well liked in these parts.

if the bike gets caked in road salt, give the bike a hose down to get the worst of it off before applying any unguents.

Another vote for ACF-50. If you get a litre bottle of it, it'll work out cheaper than spray cans in the long run. It looks expensive, but it's cheaper than everything that it's protecting.

Another vote for ACF50.

Ideally give your bike a bit of a clean mid to late Autumn (but no problems later), decent coating of ACF50 and wash properly again the next time you can be bothered Smile.

I find living in Southern California takes care of any rust problems. Cool

In my opinion the secret to prevent rust, is to keep the motorbike clean.
After every holiday trip and after every drive in the mud and in the rain,
I see to have it thoroughly cleaned. Then I use an oiled cloth to make it
shine. That way none of my bikes ever rusted.

...and another reason, I don't like to drive through rain: it's a lot of work afterwards :-)

thanks everyone, that's all really helpful!

on a different note (that'll prob be really boring to all you experienced riders but i'm going to say it anyway), i did the commute to work today for the first time and survived, even through the crazy brixton traffic! woo Very Happy

Watch out for spilt diesel on the one way system in Brixton - slippery as a skating rink.
