Helmet Cleaning

I think my helmet is about ready for a clean. I was wondering if it is ok to clean the inside with water as my lining isn't removable. Will cleaning the inside damage the helmet in any way?

I was here to ask this exact question. I'm in the same position. My lining isn't removable. How do you clean it?

I'm sure it's causing me to have bad skin as I've been using it alot this week. Definetely needs cleaned.

Using a shower wet the inside of the helmet, and then agitate to liner with a very mild shampoo (you will be amazed as to how much dirt comes out) and then rinse thoroughly until all the soap is gone. You then need to allow your helmet to dry naturally and this can take a few days. If you stick it in an airing cupboard or try and dry it too quickly the inner lining will shrink and become hard and brittle.

Natural drying will not affect it in any way and the protective properties of the helmet will remain in tact.

Bath, water and baby shampoo.

Thats what I've been told before to use on none removable linings.

Make sure that it is well dry before wearing it again though, so it will need a couple of days in a well ventilated place to dry off.

Yeah but that type of product only makes the muck smell nice, doesn't actually remove it.

I've used my helemt pretty much every day for 2 and a half years and its never been cleaned, hmmmm there gunna be alot of crud to come out when I clean mine .

I washed my textile jacket before following the instructions perfectly though it can't go in the tumble drier.
It took a few days and then it reeked of that damp smell afterwards - making me smell too!
I won't be doing that one again!
I'd be worried about the same thing happening to a helmet if it'll take a few days to dry.

Makes sense to me! Though surely the jacket shouldn't have started stinking in the first place?
Not too long after it had a fault and was replaced and I forgot to ask.

So, do i just wet the inside and scrub it. Or do i submerge the helmet in water and wash it like that?
