Crash damaged gear.

If people dont mind I need a couple of pictures to send to my insurers of damaged black textiles.

The ones I was wearing in my off are damaged but not much and I dont want the 3rd party insurers to wriggle out of full payment for them.

Also if anyone has any pictures of damaged Alpinestars smx 5 boots I would be grateful.

Not sure indulging in insurance fraud, especially on a public forum is the right way to go about this.

I don't see how the amount of damage would affect your payout.

They weren't damaged before, they are now = new stuff.

Not really fraud now is it?
I have pictures of my damaged helmet and gloves which are fine, The damage on my black textiles dont take for very good pictures using my crappy camera as you cant actually see the damage.

But im sure you are right - and im sure you declared to your insurers all of the modifications to your bike...... right?? Rolling Eyes

I'm sure a quick brush with a cheese grater or file could soon liven up the images?

As surely if they are damaged you are no longer wearing them!

How isn't it fraud?

It's not your kit, for all the other insurers know your kit could be undamaged, or considerably cheaper than the kit photographed. And you're trying to get one over on them. Thumbs Up

Whether I declare all of my mods or not is irrelevent and I'm certainly not going to be drawn into discussing it on a public forum.

Well they are damaged in that they were perfect before, I was planning on keeping them for spares as they are wearable (but let water in now) so I dont really want to have to do that if I can help it.

By the way, even the crappiest of crappy cameras should be able to get something that you can see the damage on.

Just make the camera's job as easy as possible, with lots of light and use your steady hands. Thumbs Up

But my gear IS damaged and Im NOT trying to get 1 over on them or I wouldnt just be claiming for the £250 frank thomas textiles - I would be claiming for my £1000 Dainese Leathers wouldnt I?

Well it kinda is relevant when you go about spouting utter hypocritical shite as shown below.

Wow, are you on the blob or something? Razz

If you can't get it to show up in photographs why don't you try speaking to the insurers? It can't be the first time it's happened, and for all the insurers down you might have been wearing a bin bag at the time of the accident, not your £250 Frank Thomas textiles.

You chose to start broadcasting your attempts at insurance fraud, not me, so I'm still not going to justify myself to you as I have no need to. Much like the vloggers. They choose to go broadcasting venting their speen at other road users, usually after just speeding, or overtaking on double whites or similar. That's my bug bear.

Your choice of course, just IMO it's not wise to go talking about such things on a public forum.

As I said above give the camera the best possible chase of capturing the damage, or speak to the other party's insurers. Yes they might be scum, but they're considerably more adept at wriggling out of things than we are.

You know if the third party insurance saw this they could invalidate your whole claim... Leaving you well and truly fluffed all because your boots don't look scuffed enough in a picture.

Seems to be becoming quite the fashionable thing to do at the moment. Spout off about illegal things on BCF then ask for the thread to be removed, perhaps people should learn to keep their hands in their pockets instead of typing so as to not need the past changing.. Rolling Eyes

Shereen, I think you're being unreasonable.

Your kit is damaged. You don't need to come up with a cock and bull story about how bad it is or whatever, you just send them pictures of YOUR kit with the damage and everything will be fine.

If you start sending them random pictures off of the internet, you could come a cropper and not receive any payout at all...

Just take a picture and send it off and say 'The damage doesn't show up very well but the kit is available for inspection should you require'.

There's absolutely no need to start lying to your insurance company.

Hai guys, I crashed my Ducati, thing is I really want it replaced with an R1, any chance someone can give me a picture of their crashed R1s so I can show the insurance company what I want?

It's not fraud, honestly, as my bike is damaged...

Take pictures as-is, offer to send the gear to the insurer or to any independent assessor that they wish to nominate. There's no reasonable counter-argument to that.

Think this wins the oddest request I've ever seen! I agree just do the best you can with the crappy camera and if they want to inspect the items, they're free to come down and waste their money/time looking at it. Which they won't.
