Anyone clued up about the new v5 system?
I hear you have to pay to get it replaced, but what if you never had a log book in the first place. I sometimes buy the odd car from an insurance auction and they rarely come with a v5 so will I have to pay to get one?

Still don't see why they had to change it. They just cant stop meddling Confused

You're mad buying anything without a V5 in the first place.

Why are you? Log books get lost all the time, and if they're from an auction then that is basically proof that the bike is being legitimately sold.

Surely if you're buying a car from an insurance company it is a write of some grade, and will come with all the supporting paperwork? Confused

If the V5 has genuinly been lost, you can get one by paying. If there just isn't one, and shouldn't be one (as might be the case with some vehicles purchased from insurance companies as I would assume them to be write offs?) you won't get one.

I would have expected all the paperwork to be supplied with the car when you purchase it. Confused
