Have any of you ever tried succeeded? Just wondered as I'm planning a big trip and I have seen a few people get sponsored.

Was going to do it for charity anyway but sponsorship may make life easier.[/u]

On this forum, very difficult Wink.

Depends how much you're willing to convince people that paying for you to have a jolly is money going towards a "good cause". Smile

He's probably talking more about getting free stuff off companies, rather than charity sponsorship money off forum people.

That's a point - if you do want to make money out of such things - youtube is a good start, as well as blogs etc.
Even some really good threads on advrider have garned donations sent to the authors.

Thank you G and Carvell I was more looking at both as doing it for charity is one of the two main reasons for planning it in the first place.

Hmmmm, maybe I can get someone to sponsor my 2 week holiday in August? It certainly beats paying for it myself. Thinking

I was going to ask my work place as they won't be paying me for three months if they could sponsor me my wages.

Damn, why didn't I think of that!
"I'm going on a 3 month jolly and won't be doing any work, you'll have to pay other people to do the work I would have been doing... so reckon you could pay me for the jolly too?"

The way to go for any sponsorship, most definitely the sort which is paying for your fun is to push the 'advantages'.
If it's going straight to a charity, that's easy enough as you can generally copy their pro-propaganda.
If it's paying for your fun, you need to pushing how you can push their cause - so advertising the company on your blog etc.
Of course, you might be lucky and find a particularly friendly rich director etc.
