Hello everyone,

I am Representative (or Niels in real life). I am a 23 year old Degree student at ports uni at the moment.

I am considering importing a bike or 2 from The Netherlands (which is where I am from). And I know I have to go through all the paper work to get it registered in the UK, but seeing as they will have a km speedometer on it I was wondering if that is the only thing that would need changing if I was to sell it on in the UK in the end? Or are there other parts that would need changing?

It would most likely concern a Honda CBR 600 RR and a Yamaha YZF-R6.

Many thanks,

Representative

Unless it was a flat beam headlight you would have to change that as well so it dips to the left instead of the right. Though you can get round it with a piece of tape in the right place on the lens.

Hello to the Dutch, hope your enjoying the UK

You can get stick on overlays for the speedo. The only other issue could be the headlight. If you drive on the right hand side in Holland you will need to alter it. You can get deflectors or just look on Ebay for one of a UK model ( If the headlight is set fro driving on the right it will dazzle drivers in the UK. )

Hi

That new means the easy ways aren't open to you.

You would either need a certificate of conformity and modify a few bits to UK spec (ie, mph speedo and headlight dipping to the left) or put it through an SVA test (in which case make sure it is standard, or very close to standard).

A certificate of conformity might not be that cheap.

Once that is done it should be fairly easy to reregister it with the DVLA. However not sure on the current details

Basic stuff is here:-

All the best

Keith
