The garage that has got my van in for MOT is owned by a bloke that says he races the TT. He has been giving me ideas. When i took the van down for MOT he talked me through getting my ACU licence and how to get into racing.
I went down yesterday to see what the hold up was. He then decided to tell me about the steel frame race series. He wasn't 100% clued up on it, but thinks my CBR would be allowed to enter it (anybody know where I can find more info on it?). He said that he thought of me when he saw a CBR around the same age for £2000. He then convinced me to fix the bike and get it ready for racing, then sell it. Or to grow some balls and race it myself (I want to but Mother has decided i will be kicked out if fix it or get another bike).
So i've been looking into prices for the parts i need. But i can't seem to find any race fairings for it. Does anybody know where i can get some race fairings for a '97 CBR600F?

ebay is a wonderful thing

not sure if there all actual fibreglass panels but would do the trick no doubt.

not sure what model yours is but these may be suitable

A guy i know raced in the steel frame series. He did well but is a damn good rider, he's just always been too poor to buy a decent bike hence ending up in the steel frame series. From the sounds of things it was a popular series and cheap to get in to, just like mini twins was a few years back. However just like with mini twins the number of performance increasing modifications discovered has now made it more expensive to enter and be competitive.

Have you done any trackdays?

Do some first, if not.

Much better 'value for money' than racing and probably more fun until you're doing ok in the fast group.

You don't need race fairings. People doing it on a budget will often just fibre glass up the bottom of some tatty road fairings.

No was planning to do some this year lol. I think i'm going to prep it for racing, then do some track days on it. If i don't like the track i'll just sell it on.
I know i don't have to have them, but if i'm going to convert to a track bike i might as well. Plus the fact the fairings are in a few hundred pieces from the crash lol

I'd look at the price of cheap scratched road fairings; but then you may well be able to get a tatty race fairing set for cheap.

Don't really need much 'prep' for your first trackday - make sure nothing's going to fall off, basically Smile.

Any body know where i can find some info on the steel frame race series? I can't find anything on google. Want to know the rules, so i know what can and can't be done to the bike. If I don't enjoy trackdays the bike will be getting sold rtr in the race series.
I'm thinking of putting some tarty farty USDs on. Hopefully mean i can have better brakes fitted to it too.
