I'm vaguely considering getting a new (race) can for my bike (CB500).

What I want to know is, if I get a race can will it make the bike back fire at low revs? I quite often go past kids on horses and usually try to go slowly past them at low revs so I wouldn't want to backfire.

Race cans splutter when slowing down, but if your in a high gear it doesn't normally do it if you ride past the horses in 3rd etc.

If you get it dyno jetted too, and set up right, then you shouldnt get much backfiring at all, not from the bike anyway!
It might be best to go for a full system on the CB, as the downpipes can go crappy and rust being mild steel, and also some of the sports 2-1 systems may also increase ground clearance which is worthwhile, though the CB500 has low pegs anyway. The Race CB500's had a 2-1 race pipe and K&N+Jet kit, and i thing they had 8-10bhp more, so it should go better as well!

Mine doesn't backfire at all. Sad It had a phase of doing it, and sounded really cool, but it hasn't done it for months now.

Gah, anyone wanna buy me an akro system? Or even just any titanium endcan?

So far I'm looking for a < £50 damaged end can for my r6 because apparantly the standard one is too long for ACU regulations Sad.

if you use engine braking then the engine can be forcing unbrurnt fuel through to the exhaust. So pulling the clutch in and using normal brakes should be fine generally, also I've found that carbon cans seem to backfire less than metal ones; presumably because they don't get as hot, so are less likely to aid the combustion of the unburnt exhaust gasses.

No such thing as a cheap Akrapovic Razz .

That system weighs next to nothing. Lighter than the original can alone.

All the best

As long as you have it set up porperly it should be ok i'd think.. apparently the sprocket trick works well on the CB500 so is worth considering Wink
