OK I seem to be having trouble finding someone who can sell me a bearing/bush for my DT125. It's the one that sits in the bottom of the shock absorber. I have been waiting weeks for an un-named dealer to get me one but he still hasn't come up with the goods.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get one? It's probably going to be a genuine Yamaha part that I need. I wouldn't mind a second hand shocker mind you, as long as there isn't any wear in the bearing that I need. Rolling Eyes

This is the only part that I need for the MoT now and it's doing my head in. Neutral

Cheers guys I know you can help me. Wink

I haven't really got a local dealer. But yes I have called the nearest one and they say that it is part of the spring and they can't get a separate part number for it. This isn't exactly true as there are only 2 circlips holding it in place either side and it drifts out quite easily.

I phoned quite a few of the bike shops and dealers but they all said the same thing, apart from the dealer I'm waiting for the part from.

So I'm at a loss, I'll have to look around for a motorcycle breakers yard or something. Not too sure if there are any of those local though.

It's a pretty common bike though, so I'm optimistic. Smile

Give the Motorcycle Parts Center in Reading a ring, they seem to be able to work magic on most things.

I guess it could be posted to you, though i'm not sure.

Motorcycle Parts Centre, 527 Oxford Road, Reading RG3 1HJ. Tel: 0118 959 4341

Motorcycle Parts Centre are indeed very good. As are MTC in Reading (a quick Google will find them). MTC have fixed fucked bearings, supplied hard to find chain links and been helpful on numerous other occasions,

Well I called MPC and the guy there said that he's too busy today to get me a price and that I should call back on Monday. I tried phoning MTC but I couldn't get an answer. It's too late on a Friday to sort it out now so I'll see what everyone has to say and I'll have to sort it on Monday.

First things, a big blob of grease may sort the prob out enough so that's it's a 'just pass' rather than a fail.
Otherwise it sounds like this part /is/ only available with the rest.

Breakers would be the next obvious choice, shocks don't usually go for that much, especially on often crashed bikes like the DT.

If it's a fairly common size you might be able to take it in somewhere and get them to find you a similar one.

My old local bike shop say they can get it no problem and should only be a few days. Reckon about £20-ish. Surely a local place could do the same for ya?

Hi

It probably is part of the shock. Might be available from some pattern supplier, but the best thing might be to go to a small local engineering shop as they can probably make one quite easily.

All the best

Pop down to you local engineeres. A bush will only take a couple of minutes to spin up on a lathe, hell a gcse student could make one during lunch time.

Or wait for OE parts...

Thanks for the replies guys. It's quite worn G so no amount of grease is going to make a difference, I've already tried it you see hehe. I'm going to have to get a second hand shock by the looks of things anyway as the part doesn't look like it's actually going to arrive. Neutral
