Hi,

Have a zx6r, but am increasingly getting curious about cruisers. Problem is I do not know anyone who owns one, and despite car dealers providing test drives, bike dealers do not.

Any where in London where I may find out about the experience of cruisers?

Bike dealers certainly do provide test rides.
If they aren't providing you with one, perhaps they don't think you're serious. Possible you actually don't meet their criteria. Or possible you should look elsewhere. I'd expect a test ride before buying a bike, especially from a dealer, which is more likely to have a dodgy bike in.

Definitely sounds like you've caught the gay.
I suggest you go and kill something with your bare hands and eat it to restore your manhood.

2nd opinion

It's just a phase, let him work through it and he'll get over it and settle down with a nice Thundercat eventually.

Harley Dealers are pretty free with Test rides by all accounts.

LOL with the gay fallacy Middle Finger

Perhaps it is a phase, as good old Rogerborg opined; but I can't see the correlation between cruisers/choppers and homosexuality.

I'm just curious on how they ride. Having a 'manly' super sports seems to get me flashed by SPECS, 'awarding' me 3 points (sob); I doubt one would be inclined to be a speed demon on a chopper/cruiser. Also curious whether it would be more comfy to carry pilion on them...

But hey, I love my ZX6R.

Very Happy

I've got a chintzy 250 cruiser sitting in the garage, and I have to tell you, it's pretty homosex.

I actually enjoy riding it (locally), but the reason you don't ride cruisers fast is because if you do, you will die and go to the Bad AIDS Hell. You can ride slowly on any bike, it's largely down to wrist action.

I can't speak to pillion comfort, my wife won't get on it, says something about not being a "fag hag", whatever that means.

So I won't discourage you from trying one, Allah loves wondrous diversity, but I'd suggest that your criteria might also be met by something like an 'adventure' stylee. A Ewan-and-Charliemobile is equally wannabe, but at least your sexual preferences won't get questioned.

Yes, but riding a sportsbike slowly makes you even more of a tossing fagpot.

Besides, I'd have money on it that my jazzed up Thunderbird 1700 would have seriously surprised a few sportsbikes off the line. It used to sit on the rear wheel of my mates ZZR600 up to about 90, and would pull on it off the line due to being able to redline it and just dump the clutch and not have to worry about a wheely (though low traction surfaces would see it spin into second). 0-60 was under 4 seconds easily on a good launch.

It was still gay, but it was big, hard and fast. Much like a penis in fact.

I chopped it in for a Buell in the end, it was a good compromise, cruiser motor, sportsbike performance under the ton, sportsbike handling everywhere, not too much top end to get into trouble with the fuzz.

Didn't you ask about the best new supersports 600 about three weeks ago?

You lot, honestly Brick Wall lol...

I did ask about supersports, and still love my ZX6R and wouldn't trade it in for a lousy Thundercat; Scrambler; or 'gay' cruiser. Would, however, trade it in for an R1; CBR Fireblade; Ducati 1198 (God, I love that one)...But the insurance will rape me (not to my pleasure) especially with the 3 points on its way through the post (effing SPECS Mad ).

RogerBorg, why would one die going fast on a cruiser? and "Bad AIDS Hell"? Confused

As I said, was curious about what cruisers rode like, and would be happy even spending 5 minutes riding one.

G - it worries me a little that you know about straight men having homosexual encounters; so much so that you even know of a website on the matter - I for one did not know any such thing was possible Karma

Thanks to google, I was able to find out with any prior knowledge.
It was this thread which prompted me to find out if there were statistics for people in your situation Wink.

Because in this country we have bends. When I bought my 250, I grounded it on the first roundabout and very nearly went for an unscheduled detour into the bushes. And that was using a riding style learned on a throbbing 11hp of 125 commuter.

I probably shouldn't admit it, but here's an experience of me riding a cruiser:
There was a 'Honda day' at work which had a selection of cars and bikes you could play on.
I was a bit late 'booking' so ended up with a VTX1300 for the first session.
I was behind someone that was never a fast rider and this was his first ride for 5 years. He was on a cb900.
As above, at the first roundabout the foot board was grounding out, failing to match the speed of said nervous rider. I eventually worked out that if you hung off and took your foot of the foot board so it could fold up, I could get a little more speed.

Then there's the gutless engine, lack of grip and the like.

They don't all have footboards and such, I did try a Kawasaki VN750 for a while and it was OK really. It didn't ground anything easily at all.
The worst thing is trying to keep them clean as they soon look shit otherwise.

In an ideal world where you could have at least two bikes to suit your mood and planned journey I wouldn't mind one.
Not good as your only bike though.

I found it was not comfortable on longer runs as you are pretty much locked in one position with more weight on your backside.
With most bikes you can shuffle about and put some weight on the pegs or even stand briefly to re-arrange your important equipment.
- not possible with feet forward pegs.
