So the sun came out today so i decided to go up to Parbold on my 125...

There is a Mini roundabout near the local tescos which i have to get across.. i'm wanting to go straight so i approach and obviously knowing it's give way to the right i see a car across the roundabout wanting to turn right but she's stopped and i'm rolling at 10mph so i go.. The she cuts right across with no indicator and beeps at me?! I know for sure if she went the right way around the roundabout i would have been clear. Should i have stopped completely? I got told off on my CBT for hesitation.

I know for sure i would have made it.

Instead i had a swerve around her car and almost hit the curb (green line) she stopped in the middle of the roundabout swearing i just rode off as i didn't know where i stood.

Was a good ride out too.. This happened 2 mins from my house and was on the way home.

Assuming that the car is red then she shouldn't have cut over the mini-roundabout - the highway code is very clear about that, but as is often said on here it doesn't matter how right you are when you are lying in a heap on the road!

She's at fault as you were established on roundabout, plus she has cut across and not used it correctly as per highway code.

You're going straight on, she's making a right turn.

Normally you would have to give way to traffic coming from the right but here she is not indicating and she is cutting across the roundabout; she was in the wrong because she did not make the turn correctly.

How did you know she was wanting to turn right if she wasn't indicating? Confused

Difficult on mini-roundabouts as the space to go around them properly is often restricted so people do cut across them - this is something you need to be aware of and make allowances for when you are judging whether or not you have time to go.

I wouldn't like to judge if you were in the right or not but in your position I wouldn't have gone cos as others have already said being right doesn't stop you being in a heap of pain.

Its her fault, but you shouldnt have went. Most people cut mini-roundabouts because of the lack of space.
Being hesitant to stop and check isnt always a bad thing.

When i sit down and think about it...

I blame myself.. for not waiting.. and expecting it to happen.
Though all these little near misses we all have make a better rider out of us all.

After all every car driver is out to kill you... Right?

I had just got back from a "hot ride" (NSL) and it's stupid how i can have some fun in the lanes and be perfectly fine but as soon as i get around cagers at 15mph i'm almost getting Plummeted into.

As pointed out by others, many mini-roundabouts are difficult (if not impossible) to go around without encroaching onto the painted area. I always assume that the blob of paint is there simply to indicate who would have priority if the mini-roundabout was a full sized one.
I therefore hold you, Lipsmoker, responsible for the near mishap.
I could of course be totally wrong and I expect that many peoples will gleefully correct me if I am.

i thought you had to be in 1st gear slow riding on all mini roundabouts?
that would have saved you from the crash.
but it was definitely the car drivers fault if you was on the roundabout first

Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so. Remember, there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal. Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts. Beware of others doing this.

I don't think there is a "First gear" law as that would be pretty ridiculous

Don't hold me to it.. it might be true. but on my 125. if i'm coming up to a mini at 10mph i would rather be in second so i can pull away if i need to.. As 1st gear isn't too good for 20.

Different Instructors have different Teaching styles. Like i got told not to hesitate. (I'm talking about a CBT here) i stopped at a roundabout when a car was quite far away approaching the right i was told just to go as hesitation can frustrate cars behind you.
