Anyone recommend a pair of nice looking rear shocks for a CX500 cafe build, Marzocchi aside I'm finding it difficult to find a pair that add value outside of the stock Laughing

Im sure anything can be made to fit. Nothing will "add value" to a cx500 bar from filling the tank with cement before you weigh it in for scrap.

Ohlins, white power, Maxton all make twin shocks but I doubt any will fit straight off.

I always go for a set of Hagons on my twin-shock bikes. Good value, and far better than standard or cheap pattern shocks.

If you weight more or less than average, they can fit a spring with a different rate. I think it only costs an extra tenner when you buy new shocks. Makes a huge difference for me, seeing as I weight less than average.

Hagon Classic Chrome would be my imediete thought..

But 'sensible' people's comments about a Maggot?! Do you say that with some wry irony?

The Maggot; Take one Moto-Guzzi V50, add the completely unnecessary complexity and weight of water-cooling to it's push-rod engine; sell it's latin 'soul' to the Slant-Eye-Devil, for a set of reliable switch-gear; steal a few of Friedl Münch's rejected concept sketches as styling inspiration, and then... after the Western-Press have spent a decade telling every-one its the 'quirks and flaws' that Give European bike's thier 'Charecter'... offer it to the market to show that the Japanese, too, can biwd, byke, wiv, 'Kawikta'!

Oh.. and JUST to show that they also have a sense of humour... bore it out to 650cc and slap a TURBO on it!

Favoirite of Despatchers in the 80's, for low cost, low maintenence, utiliterian, high mile dependability... they acquired a relatively deserved reputation for ruggedness, but if they are it's main plaudits, I would hardly call some-one who chooses to earn-their crust, working long hours, in all weathers, on a motorcycle, facing the hazards of buses, taxi's, limo drivers, lost tourists and megalomaniac parking wardens, delivering small packages, for a pittance, all THAT 'sensible' to begin with.....

But takes all types I suppose....

Old Maggot is, I guess an iconic motorcycle, and while they made little sense when new, and even less now, SOME-ONE ought to save a couple of them for posterity...

You get 10 positions damping adjustment with automatic compression and rebound. 3 preload settings.
As said they'll do a different spring to suit your needs. I often take a pillion so I mentioned that when i phoned in my order. I was asked for our combined weight.

These are the ones I went for.

Very happy with the them in respect of performance, but one of the stickers is peeling after 2 years.
