i have hooked a HID headlight kit to my 1984 mtx125 (200cc engine) and the battery and charging system is not quite strong enough to power it, neither is the headlight coil. SO my question here is, can i hook the lighting wire (yellow/white) into the rectifier ? just splice it in with one of the other AC wires ? the yello or purple one.. Or do i need to buy a seperate rectifier for the head lighting coil to charge my battery ?

If this is making no sense, here is a simple idea of the layout. The Magneto has 3 elements of charging, 1 is for ignition, 1 is for charging the battery and one is for powering the headlights. SO stock the headlights will only come on when the engine is running. MY plan is to wire the headlights changing into the battery system so it will be able to sustain my HID lights. BUT do i need another rectifier or can i just splice it into the existing AC wires that go to the existing rectifier ?

Any Advice would be good.. in a few moments i will post a pic of my idea of the wiring diagram.

I think you are trying to run a DC headlamp off an unregulated AC supply.... if you haven't fried the HID ballast... You will have to rewire to run the HID off the battery, and probably change the regulator/rectifier to take the current from the lighting coil.

I am running the HID off the battery at the moment BUT the battery keeps going flat because the AC lighting system is not there to help it charge. what i need to know, is how to make the yellow/white Lighting coil wire charge my battery ? can i splice it into one of the existing AC wires coming from the battery charging coil to the rectifier ?

No, you will need a regulator/rectifier with extra input terminal.

Each output wire is coming from a different coil, as magnet passes them it creates a voltage pulse one way, then when when it passes other end, creates reverse pulse.

If you 'common' two stator coils you will get two potentially competing voltage pulses on one wire, and the regulator probably doesn't have the current carrying capacity to handle both coils power; which was why it was run AC direct to the tungsten bulbs.

Count the number of stator output's and find a regulator to suit.

I am 12v converting my DT and fitting HID to it, I am using a 12v C70/Pit-Bike 'two wire' regulator/rectifier, good for about 10A I am told; £10 off e-bay.

Not sure about a one wire rectifier, for the head-lamp circuit alone; you might get away with a two wire reg/rect, and wiring your single input to both pins; but you will want some charge damping on it, either a small battery of big capacitor.

Using a reg/rect with an extra pin on it that would take the light coil and use it to charge battery probably the better way of doing it; but think you'll have to trawl wiring scematics to find a bike that has similar charging arrangement to what you want and similar power magneto.
