Thought I'd best start a thread in the appropriate place for pics of the bike.

As I said on facebook.... your subframe looks twisted Wink.

Quite a bit of a minter - you're quite a "classic" supersports connoisseur you are! I quite like the originality of it, accentuated with little bits and pieces - the Yoshi's set it off nicely and has that period look to it.

Cheers, unfortunately no payout yet, but my mum has said that seeing as I turn 21 this June, she would loan me the money to buy it seeing as it wasn't my fault my VFR got smashed up. She said she would rather I have the bike I want now, seeing as my hire bike goes back this week (19th/20th) and pay her back when the court case is over with and I get paid out for.

Lol, mandatory subframe/chain joke is winrar Thumbs Up Laughing

Thanks man it's in good condition, few age acceptable marks, I am a bit, prefer the pre '00 stuff if I'm honest, just something about it. It think it's modded tastefully, (that undertray bugs me a little, but cba to change it)

I had a thought about going back to standard, but it's an expense I could do without for now, I may start collecting the parts to return it to standard, but need to spend a fair chunk (£200+) the undertray is only about £80 brand new from Yamaha, was surprised really.

Apparently so, I've heard they can be very twitchy, but will see if the Chuck Norris reputation is well deserved!

I've done some investigating, and the bike is fitted with a full Yoshimura Duplex system, not just the end can, will be asking around to see what the general opinion of it is.

Here's just a couple of (crap) pics, please feel free to add an opinion if you think I'm wrong with the I.D (preferably with some evidence) so I know what I'm working with.

Lemme know how your '98 R1 gets on with roadsmarts. Mate at work owns a blue '99 R1 and always sticks sports touring tyres on them - it's done 49k miles, 1 owner, and swears by them.

It's only going to get twitchy if you do over 100mph on B roads so you'll be fine.

I don't think that you'd need to change the tyres since I've only ever had roadsmarts on my 929 and it works so well in all conditions - try today when it was greasy and the B roads were smeared with mud!

I don't want to say this, but stick some fairing protectors on them. And I know that you don't want to do this, but some frame protectors as well. The proud frame spars will be the first to touch down if you don't have either of them.

You don't want anything spoiling that immaculate bodywork mind?

I just love the originality of the bike, with a few tasteful mods

I tried one set of Pilot Pures on my 99 R1, and they were good, managed to lay some tyre marks down winding it up off roundabouts and even stepping out it felt controlled... but when they were shott i went back to Pilot Road 2's...

I would have been happy to do a trackday on PR2's, Roadsmarts are only slightly worse in the dry than the PR2's so he will have fun Thumbs Up

I been riding since I was 16 and have now accumalated 4 years no claims. A 636 cost me £400 a year fully comp and when I looked at a ZX10 I was quoted around £500-700.

I've been riding since 16 as well, but I'm only 19 and didn't start immediately, so I have 3 years NCB as of this July. I still get totally raped on quotes for anything with the "super sports" name tag. A ZXR will cost me about 10x as much as the equivalent ZZR etc.
