PostPosted: 17:38 - 20 Jan 2012    Post subject: NEWBIE - Advice required for spark plug change - SANYA 125 Reply with quote

I bought a Sanya 125 for my son to get to work and back.

It was used for a short period of time but after a couple of falls it has been in my back garden unused for approx 6 months!! Rolling Eyes

I am now trying to sell it but i cannot get it started! The electronic ignition was always on the blink but it always kick-started with no bother.

Now when I try I get nothing... There is a spark getting to the plug but i can't get the plug out to replace it - I have used my old car plug tools but they do not fit.

Any hints to try & get it started or advice on what tool I should use gratefully received!!

Hi

Have you tried using the correct sized ring spanner?

I have used this in the past, if the plug is tight, you might need to provide a shock to get it moving (sharp tap with a hammer).

As for starting, I'd check the usual first, fuel, kill switch, battery, wiring etc

All the best
Mike

Depends on what plug its got in it mate, most comon bike sizes are 16mm or 21mm. But have known a few 17mm and 19mm on chinky or older british/jap bikes running spitfire and champion plugs.

Also if you cant get it out how do you already know its sparking? Do you have xray vision and can see through the engine block lol

Plugs tend to be weird sizes, quite a few i've had have been 13mm.
It's probably not starting as the fuel is old and stale and has water in it. Drain the tank out and drain the float bowls (tiny little screw underneath them) and refill with fresh fuel in order to stand a decent chance.

I know that there is a spark getting to the plug - don't know if it's going through the plug........
