Who gave an unqualified person the job of welding up a chassis member and who is responsible for checking his work? If he's an apprentice he should be working under someone's supervision or oversight and his tasks and limitations should be properly defined.

If it wasn't you then you shouldn't carry the can.

However:

Quote:
It was only after we had finished the job, he thanked me for letting him do the hard stuff because he had only been doing the job 3month and started a week before me. He never said he couldn't weld that sort of stuff.

This says it WAS you. Now you can thank yourself lucky that you only got a disciplinary, because if there was a catastrophic failiure on the road and someone got killed you could easily find yourself up in front of a coroners enquiry, and take it from me - you don't want that.

You were given a task. You passed it on to somebody else, by the sound of it without your/his manager's authorisation. It failed.

How would it be anybody else's fault but yours?

You said he was an apprentice, but now he's qualified and certificated.

TBH, I don't know what I can say next that's not going to be uncomplimentary.

Took me a while to realise this is warped posting... Again!

Please. punch your boss, get the sack and stop using up jobs other people who appreciate them could have.

I can't believe it hasn't sunk in yet. I've never heard of anyone who had so much trouble in their work. There comes a time when the only conclusion can be that you are doing it wrong. You can only hold a job down for a few months before you either leave in a huff or are sacked for a misdemeanour. This sorry cycle has been going on for years now. YEARS!

Face facts. You are a shit employee with a shit attitude. It would be better foir society if you took yourself out of employment and got yourself an injectable drug addiction. At least then nobody would be surprised when you shit in your own nest. Leave the paid, partially skilled manual labour to those who will work for and appreciate it.

nice to have you back warped.

My opinion, is that as you warned your boss what would happen, and it has, he is telling you that the welds failed not because you were right and he was wrong but because the other guy was the one that did the welds that failed.

I think this is classic divide and rule tactics. He was the one who made the decision to do things wrong and he doesnt want you to point this out and so is getting you to blame it on the new guy.

However you probably cant point that out to your boss, so I say let the little guy take the rap rather than yourself, but chat to him first like he's your mate explaining how important it is that in future he lets people know if he cant do something, even if you know it was actually your boss's fault.

I think stinkwheel is wrong about you, as he doesnt know what its like to work somewhere where new employees are ten a penny and bosses are stupid and blame things on little guys (as I'm advocating you to do).

I reckon grimsby is a bit like dudley in that respect and that being a welder is a bit like being a telemarketer in that respect.

signed a job to job telemarketer in dudley

That wasn't a truck, that was a bus.

Big and hard to handle but plenty ride it.

But it's not quite the same is it? From what I am led to believe, supposedly skilled welders are not ten a penny, especially those that can weld to an accuracy in the micrometres with the naked eye, so it's really not comparable to telemarketing staff which I am aware are basically employed on short rotation because they are expendable.

Anyway, that's all from me, I feel dirty and violated having posted in one of Warpeds' threads...... as a matter of fact I think finding out I had been molested as a child would be preferable to responding to one of Warpeds' posts.

Thirded on the Denmark claim.

Warped, I don't think that you are a bad person and I do actually want to think the best of you, but you are clearly an habitual liar and a fantasist. There's just no way to square all your stories and make you a man of your word.

If even half of your tales are true, then in a work environment you clearly need constant supervision by a grown up to protect other people from the consequences of your delusions of adequacy.

I'm surprised that you last as long as you do in any job. I'd have you out on your ear (to be fair) the 2nd time I caught you spewing your childish passive-aggressive line after yet another screw up or tantrum.

And that's me charitably assuming that you are actually in employment in the trade that you claim to be in, rather than weaving these tales out of whole cloth. It's just as likely that you're running a till at Burger King, or dole sponging.

tl;dr version - your word is worth nothing, and what else does a man have?

The welds didn't fail the chassis did due to a load it was not designed to handle.

1. Where was the assessment on the chassis as to whether it could handle the load?
2. Was the vehicle inspected after the work? if it was a PLG it would require a VOSA inspection and I'm pretty sure that modifying a commercial vehicle would need an inspection possibly called re-plating.
3. Who tested the modifications at your company?
4. Who made the plans for the modifications?

All these questions and no doubt more need to be considered as well as the FACT that you knew what you were doing was unsafe and could result in someone's death and yet you continued to do it.

Pretty much everyone has email now, all it takes is an email to your boss stating that you consider the work you have been instructed to do to be unsafe and that you are unwilling to put the company and yourself into the position of a possible (corporate) manslaughter charge. If you are then fired you sue and win. You need to take responsibility, even though you didn't do the welds you instructed someone else to do something you considered unsafe.

And restrict the posting hours from 8am to 8pm, as it's guaranteed to be fabrication outside those hours. I blame the parents - bedtime should mean bedtime.

On that note (and assuming that any of that this is true, which is a huge ass-u-me) if you had the sack that you were born with, you'd either:

1) File a formal grievance claiming constructive dismissal, asserting that you are being fitted up for a job that failed in the way that you warned it would.

2) Punch your boss in the throat for same, then take a picture of yourself teabagging him.

You really do come across as a whiny muttering manchild doormat. You're doing a man's job, insist on being treated as one.

Top find chap....

So warped is on £17 quid ph to risk the life of others, owns two houses (one in London and one in Grimsby), did a 4 year apprenticeship in 8 months. All this on top of finding a pair of flares, and paid £5000 for a girl....

He is a god of a man, and everything I (and the other cruel, cruel people on here) have said about him deserves nothing but contempt..

Thats it, I've finally realised this forum will implode without him on it, and I'm off to join gone boarding dot com...
