ACF50!
Ahem. If you buy it in litre bottles, it'll do you for years and work out a fair bit cheaper than the aerosol cans. It looks expensive, but it's cheaper than the parts that it's protecting. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I use FS365 after every wash. Nice bonus with the Anticorrosion sprays is that if you do the fairings too the bike is sooooooo easy to wash the next time, dirt just falls off |

I know bike prices seem very expensive now, but as I pointed out on another thread, in real terms they are not much more expensive than they were 10/15 years ago.
Kickstart illustrated it very well.

I would tend to agree that prices in real terms haven't gone up though, and quite possibly gone down substantially. Using this tool suggests that £8790 in 1996 is equivalent to £13272. Or for fun the first 1987 model Aprilia AF1 125s came into the UK at the start of 1988 and cost £2400, equivalent to £5300 now. Within a year they had gone to £3000 for the Sintesi (although you could buy direct from the importer bypassing the dealers for a large discount - and have some very unhappy dealers) making them equivalent to £6330 now.
Dug out a few random magazines for old prices, and what that price is now the equivalent of:-
1990 Honda VFR750 = £5799 = £11366
1990 Suzuki GSXR750 = £5299 = £10386
1990 Kawasaki ZXR750 = £5799 = £11366
1991 Suzuki DR650 = £3370 = £6030
1991 Yamaha TZR125 = £2079 = £3721
1991 Honda NSR125R = £3142 = £5624
1991 Honda NS125R = £2361 = £4226
1991 Yamaha SR125 = £1499 = £2683
1991 Honda MTX125 = £1920 = £3436
1991 Kawasaki KMX125 = £1890 = £3383
1991 Kawasaki KDX125 = £2095 = £3750
1991 Yamaha DT125 = £1999 = £3578
1991 Aprilia AF1 Futura = £3591 = £6427
That looks like they are substantially more compared to their current equivalents. Just that in comparison to how prices of most consumer items have dropped in price the drops are not as big (ie, video recorder 20 years ago was a £400 purchase, in real terms almost £900 now yet the current equivalent would be a DVD player for a fraction of that much).
All the best

They can prevent it on bikes as well! | iooi wrote: | | bazablue wrote: | not just the build,,,took partner to look for a bike the other day...the prices!!!! Take a look under your average car and tell me their build quality is better...
Right you find me a car that is cheaper than these 2 examples that can compete with economy and performance.
CG 125
R1
Either new or second hand.....
Can you provide me the name of the last bike manufacture to go bust...... Now don't come back with a dealer either....
I would ask you for a car co, but thats far to easy... Given Saab has just gone to thee wall....
Even the likes of Jaguar have gone bust..... GM one of the worlds largest car manufacture is close to going tits up.....
So name and shame a Jap manufacture that has done the same, or in the same situation ???
People that ride throughout the winter need to stop cleaning all the protective crud that builds up.
My bike gets a coat of AC 50 in Oct and does not see a bucket of water till easter....
When its cleaned up then it looks just fine |
