I had a PGO T-Rex 125 Scooter last year for a few months in the summer, fun to ride but impossible to read the instruments at night as the needles weren't illuminated (although they looked like they should).

I took the dash apart expecting to see a couple of burnt out bulbs, but there weren't any, meaning that navigation in the dark had to be by the 'I think I'm doing about yay speed'. Not very useful when we have a maximum speed limit of 35mph and lots of 25mph and 20mph roads.

I redesigned an instrument panel (did about 10 versions) using Photoshop and printed it onto clear and white laser decal paper.

Cleaning off the white-painted plastic instrument panel took about 5 minutes with acetone and I was left with a completely transparent panel to work with. Applied the white printed decal first then the clear, sprayed with several layers of transparent laquer and the results looked fantastic, worked well (I could read them at night) and someone made me an 'offer I couldn't refuse' about 2 days after finishing and I sold the bike!

I am now eyeing the instrument on my Triumph Tiger and I suspect I'll try something with them as well......
