Was just parusing e-bay and came accross THIS...
https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/$(KGrHqZ,!lYE8FV4bhCNBPFzNFt+m!~~60_3.JPG
And for SOME reason, I actually thought "Ooooh! THAT'S cool!"
Vespa 200, styled by Kyrten, with a SIDE CAR! Shocked
Now EITHER, there IS 'something' about this 'thing'...... OR... I am having the biker equivilent of one of those 'senior' moments, where a straw panama hat seems a stylish accessory to a beige anorack!
https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/$(KGrHqR,!g4E7QKhpT8BBPFzOf)mrQ~~60_3.JPG
Discuss....

I would ride that.

I actually quite want that.

Trying to find it on eBay I came across this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/motorbike-and-sidecar-/170769005084?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item27c2a03a1c#ht_499wt_1416

Want.

As with 'most all 3 wheeled vehicles; you might as well have a car.

C90 sidecars aren't too uncommon.

I'm inclined to agree. All the impracticality of a bike, none of the practicality of a car, double looser.... BUT Laughing
There is a kind of Wallage & Grommet 'Charm' about that thing... and it did make me wonder whether it would do the job of my Chavic, nipping to the shops, running kids to Skating, that kind of stuff....
It's a 'Charecter' vehicle...... as discussed on another thread, really, isn't it? DCecided my Chavic has NO charecter whatso-ever, other than being Brian the Beige Accountant... three years and all I have had to do to it is fill the washer bottle; only 'grumble' I have about it is the seat belts a bit awkward to reach... its BORING...
No... it WOULDN'T do the job, would it?
OK.... now if I move a few little Super-Dreams around.... make a bit of space....... Hang on, let me just go measure up the path between the drive & the house.... Any-one know how wide a Vespa 200 and side-car is? Laughing
garth wrote:

Sort of the point; its the late 80's early 90's Vespa 'spacey', when they ditched the classic lines to try and make it look 'space age' and up to date... and much unloved then, even less now, its an under-dog, with a jetsons side-car....
You're right.... it's an AGE thing.... WHY do I even KNOW that about a VESPA!

Save a bit more money and get yourself a cheap 7 style kit car or similar.

You do get a lot of the bike impracticality, but you also get stuff decent improved on either side - stability and ability to out perform most cars on the road.

I have enough 'projects' lying around..... and It wouldn't take me long to have the 'idea' I have a rather good V8 lying around 'spare'!

Kit Cars: - Created from the decayed remains of a rusty Cortina and a box of bits, that provide YEARS of endless amusement frustration putting them together then trying to stave off their natural tendancy to attempt to revert to their original state....... (Cant remember who it was that said that; John Cooper having a snipe at Chapman, perhaps?)

It's not an age thing Mike, I'm older than you and despise (mostly) plastic fantastics and the latest bunch of garbled letters with an "R" on the end to tell you it's fast and I think it looks shit too........ Razz

Buy one that's already done, of course:
https://pistonheads.com/sales/3558716.htm for instance is MOT'd, though it does suggest a bit more work needed.
A bit would get you something a bit newer: https://www.kitcar-trader.co.uk/locost-for-sale/locost-1300-road-legal .

Or for fun driving without quirky looks, but good 'every day' usability, a MK1 MX5 is an excellent choice and could be got for less than the cost of the silly three wheeler. You could always get a big can of pink paint if you want it to look 'different' and 'quirky' Wink.

I don't think it's an age thing. I'm a spritely 27 (albeit only until monday) and I love the look of that thing. Having said that, I own a genuine (i.e, from ecuador) panama hat.

I am off now to gouge my eyes out using a blunt spoon.

2 up, and the possibilty of a third, plus luggage, (two top boxes), top speed is going to be what, 35 mph, with the wind behind you? I also assume that any incline means the passenger has to get out and push.

This is cool:-

That isn't!

I'm 34 by the way.

Edit: Sid's effort is cooler but I'd still feel a bit of an idiot going round the Hangar Lane Gyratory on it.

THIS is the Spirit.....

It's an dementia 'special' isn't it?

It makes absolutely NO 'sense' what so ever as a practical vehicle. It has so little performance as to make you query your definition of even 'adequete', and it looks... well....

Like only some-one who has no enthusiasm for anything but perhaps 1960's Stamps of the African Interior could think looks 'good' through his kiddy-fiddler glasses!

Ergo, it's cool becouse its completely 'Anti-Cool'....

I mean, the motorway maintenence stripes, I think really 'make' it for me...

Same for any three wheeler really.
In the past when it was cheaper than a car, I could see the point.
Maybe for a kid that can't afford car insurance and wanted to transport another two people? But considering the access most people have these days, even that's a bit far fetched.

I have been on a side car a couple of times I admit, though only as a passenger.
https://www.swaffs.co.uk/images/Bemsee-Croix-06-report/Swaffs_Bemsee-Croix_290506-003.jpg
(I did get to hang off a bit more in later ones.)
Fun, but still slower than the bikes.
