i have installed a new pair of indicators onto my derbi senda after falling off and breaking one of the old ones.

anyway, the new ones are flashing way too fast. both sets are bulbs and not LED's and both have a 12v bulb in them.

when i say way too fast it is actually flashing 150 times a minute or every .4 of a second.

is this legal and how do i slow it down?

thanks Smile

MOT says between 60 and 120 flashes per minute. Should be able to slow them down with resistors or something.

also i forgot to add that the light on the dashboard flashes at the same time as the indicators.

also the new bulbs are half the size of the old ones so will that also make a difference?

Hi

Check the wattage of the bulbs in the indicators. Likely they are lower wattage bulbs (and actually check them rather than the packaging - someone I know found that the bulbs were far lower wattage than was claimed on the packaging)

All the best

Keith

Hi

Wattage not voltage. If a lot smaller then a fair chance they are lower wattage bulbs (lower wattage, so lower resistance to earth and the flasher speeds up).

All the best

Keith

it should say on the metal cap 12V 21W the W bit is the the wattage but if the actual bulb is half the size then they are maybe 10W and thats why they are flashing too fast. change to 21W (if they can fit in the indicators)
