Just recieved one of these through the post this morn. (or what i presume is..)

The head line reads... 'Application for name and address of driver' and the alleged offence is 'driving without due care and attention'.

Im not 100% sure what ive done to deserve this, other than possibly accelerating from a set of lights quickly after filtering, onto a 60 limit.

Has anyone delt with these before? Ive already got 3points from speeding after being caught by a man with a gun.

Help...

With a fine of up to £5k, and 3-9 points on your licence, I'd make sure that I was fully aware of all the facts before coughing up to anything.

Andre Polishski was on your bike at that time right? Taking for a test ride as you were selling it...?

He's gone back to Poland?

Thinking

Probably best to head to pepipoo lol Laughing

Probably some random busybody reported you.
If you weren't stopped at the time I wouldn't worry too much.
First thing to remember, KEEP EVERYTHING, that includes the envelope it came in.
Reply within the 28 days. (towards the end of 28 days is best)
Get proof of posting.
Don't fuck about with the form, don't say it might have been you, or you can't remember.
Anything other than "yes I was riding at that time on that date" will be seen as failure to furnish details.
You're just telling them that, you're not admitting to any offence.
Don't contact them, let them do the legwork.

Ive not actually received a NIP. Just a request for name and address of driver.

I wasnt pulled over or flashed by a camera either.

If I was to hazard a guess, this random busybody reported you for "breaking the law".

There has been a recent buttload of these being received by bikers who then send it off and never hear anything about it ever again.

As has been said, just write back saying that yes you were riding at that date and time. You have not admitted to any offence by doing so.

As above, somebody probably reported you as if you were seen by a Police Officer you'd have definitely been stopped. Send it back and hope. Thumbs Up.

I wouldn't rely on that; they may argue that was a NIP, or that they served it as soon as was reasonable practical after you replied. Do reply, but do leave it 3 weeks or so.

That is what's known as a S172 notice, which is a requirement to provide driver details.

Failing to reply to it is an offence in itself and carries a nasty penalty, regardless of whatever offence they're sending it to you for in the first place. So you'd be well advised to reply to it truthfully, which will get you over one hurdle. Then they may be in touch about whatever the due care offence is about.

Wonder if this is some kind of new phishing scam..... To be followed by bike being stolen.... Or to take bike details.

Anyone who recieved one been to local police to question it ????

I would have thought that due care and attention would require more than someone just reporting it, unless a ehole bus load of people did.... More like a police officer seeing the event, was unable to pursue said rider and simply took details. or was picked up on cctv and forwarded on.
