I've been riding scooters for 2 years, slowly going up a engine.
I would love to do my test but its very costy!
But hopefully next year I will be able to save enough money for it.

(First 50cc a horrible Chinese import)
(2nd 110cc Honda Lead)
(3rd 125 Honda Innova)
Had a serious crash with my innova, car pulled out on me.
Both my bike and her car was a right off. Luckly didnt break any bones.
(And now my new Honda CBF 125)

I'm new to the 'motorbike' 125 scene.
I want to make this bike my project, do it up a little.
Starting with the exhaust, but as Im a rookie with this stuff,
I would like some advise on it.
What difference will I notice riding the bike with a new exhaust?
Can anyone recommend a type of exhaust?
Ive seen one im interested in
"gbmoto race exhaust"
Any good?

Would really appreciate some advise on this,

Thanks Very Happy

Somebody else with far greater knowledge of 125's may well come along and prove me wrong here, but I'm pretty sure that any gain from changing the exhaust on a standard four stroke 125 will be minimal if anything at all.

However, I am sure that any other comments will go along the lines of "put the money towards your test"!!!

On the plus side, you've got a good bike to practice on there - not saying that you need any practice as you've already said you've been riding for 2 years, albeit on scooters of the twist 'n' go category. So master the manual box (if you haven't already!) and book those tests! It really doesn't need to be as expensive as you may think.

as above really, from what i have heard, you may get a slight increase in acceleration but wont do much to top speed. would probably look nicer and sound nicer too, not as likely to rust i have a 2010 ybr125 and the exhaust pipes do rust!

as an exhaust costs about £200+ and doing your tests via the "teach yoruself to pass theory, mod1, mod2" costs less than that, i would be inclined to advise you do the tests and get something a little beefier than a 125? you could ride a 250cc or get a bigger one with a restrictor on for 2 years then have anything after that.

you would be surprised what bike you could get for the same price as your lovely CBF.

just a thought Very Happy

PS i dont see any L Plates, so have you already passed?

Hello mate,

I have a CBF and an after marktet exhaust, a leo vince. The exhaust was part of the sale when i bought the bike and i very much doubt i would have independently bought one.

The main advantages to the leo vince are clear. Firstly, the quality build means it's immune from rust which is a problem with the default can, especially as we're in winter. Secondly, it looks and sounds lovely. Not only do i have a greater presence on the road for safety but i get to hear a nice deep growl rather than a silent hum.

But is that worth all the money? well no, as ppl suggest, spend that on taking your tests. BTW...i had to insure the can as adding upto 5% power which cost me a bit more- in theory it is supposed to add a lil power but i really dont think it does much at all.

For the cost of the exhaust - you could probably book & pass Mod 1 and Mod 2 - sounds like you don't need many (if any) lessons with 2 years experience.

If you get a stainless steel exhaust it won't rust - but will you keep the bike long enough to benefit? The Devil exhaust sounds fantastic with the baffle out - loud enough for drivers to hear you when filtering etc, which you could argue is safer. Then there's the aesthetics. Performance-wise, you'd get no noticeable difference.

As has been said: No point buying one for performance gains, as you're not going to get any.
If anything you may lose a little fuel economy.

Sound wise, it's still gonna sound like a wet fart, but a bit louder.

Life expectancy is increased with a stainless system but as neil. said: Will you keep the bike long enough to warrant that cost?

I say use the money to put towards your test... Much more worth it in the long run!

Don't bother changing the exhaust!
The CBF125 has a max output of 11bhp, so even if you could get a 10% increase in power (which you won't) that's still only 12bhp.
Also, the CBF has the PGM-FI sytem, which doesn't work well with anything other than the factory exhaust system.

Depending on your age, you may want to get a move on with saving.

Come January next year, the new test comes in which will prevent you from riding anything from 15-45bhp until you are 19 and anything above 45bhp until you are 21 unless you haven't ridden a 45bhp bike for two years, then you have to wait until 24.

You will be much better off passing your test this year if you can, you do not want to go through the new system if you can at ALL avoid it, I guarantee it.

Nice bike you've got there, best of luck with continuing your biking career. Thumbs Up!
