Depends:
Is one towing the other or are you strapping one to the parcel rack?

I would imagine it completely depends on the bikes in question?

I'll throw out a few figures based on different bikes:

RS125:

RS125s have a fuel economy of roughly 45-50mpg according to MPG websites which isn't too bad, based on this you will need ~18 gallons of fuel to do 850 miles.

Using Imperial gallons, 18 gallons is about 80 litres. At £1.35 a litre it's about £110.

CG125:

CG125s have an average fuel economy of about 75-80mpg on MPG websites.

This means you'll need around 11 gallons to do the trip.

Using Imperial gallons, 11 gallons is ~50 litres. At £1.35 a litre it's around £65.

XL125:

XL125s have an average fuel economy of about 70mpg according to MPG websites.

This means you'll need around 12 gallons to do the trip.

Using Imperial gallons, 12 gallons is 54 litres. At £1.35 a litre it's around £75.

Based upon these calculations, I will come to this conclusion:

It will likely cost around ~£70-£120 per 125 per 850 mile journey depending on the motorcycle.

EDIT: I can't find any LF125 economy figures for a good average, but the above should be sufficient really.

Well when I had my YBR it was about £17 from nearly empty and that lasted about 200 miles.

Today's prices, lets say £20 does 200 miles.

20 * 4 =£80 (for 800 miles roughly)

So you're looking at £160 roughly, for both bikes assuming their fuel economy is about the same.

At about 70mpg, & £1.31 per litre; roughly £75 per bike, in petrol.

For the XL, you'll need to do a full service before you leave, and it will be due another when you get back.

You'd be advised to get the XL running Tail-end-Charlie, & pack a spare set of brake-pads/shoes for all the e-stops it will be doing every time something falls off the Lifan in front!

Ecconomy on the Lifan may be slightly better than the XL.... you wont use petrol for those miles spent pushing it to a garage, or on the back of a recovery truck!
