I got my first taste of off-road riding last year and I'm hell bent on getting kitted out to do a few hare & hound events this year.

I've been keeping my eye out for a 250/300 2-stroke in good nick (I raced 2t karts for 9 years so want to go this route for sentimental reasons!)

Keeping an eye out on enduronews and eBay type sites for bid targets and have come across (late) this one that didn't receive any bids; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190630927406?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1413

I know GG's typically go for less money than say KTM or Yam's, but is there any reason why you wouldn't plump for a 9 year old 2t for less than a grand that looks in decent nick for the money?

My budget will probably stretch to 2/2.5k, but I know from experience money doesn't buy you decent kit all the time and hidden gems do exist - is this an example of one?

Cheers

TMX (Trials and Motocross News) is another good source of bikes for sale.

A friend had a nice KTM 300 2T not too long ago.He sold it as he was getting blisters on his hands from hanging on so hard and because he said that he rarely got into fourth gear on the rough stuff.

Some other people that I know have said that a KTM 200 2T is a good compromise in size and power.

Should have mentioned that I'm a fatty, so a little extra punch won't hurt.

I had a 2004 EC300, it was a nice bike to ride but it had a few problems. Subframe is very weak and can snap near mounting, tanks/rad shrouds are held on with very small screws to the tank and get ripped out to easy, filling cap is crap, could never get the back break right and parts can be a little harder to come by.
