Hi

As some might know, I landed up screwing up a corner on the FZ750 today, running off down a 4' bank into a potato field. Somehow managed to stay upright so rode about 100 yards through mud back out of the field.

All the best

Keith

I know tarmac can sometimes get boring in the rain, but that was really no excuse to go play off road Keith Laughing

From what Mike and Maur. said in I R C, you must be a well good rider to have kept the bike upright, either that or v lucky. 10/10 for style Cool Laughing

Skill had nothing to do with it. I was very lucky.

Yeah I see the mistake you made there. You turned for the right hand corner a "little" bit early - like a 100 yards. Razz

Glad it stayed the right way up though mate. Very Happy

I don't quite understand how you managed that? I know I would have fallen off. Laughing Why did the bike feel the need to go there in the first place?

Bloody hell Keith even after so many years of biking every day and i can't imagine someone staying up on grass / plants / mud in wet weather.

Luck and keeping carm as such probably kept you from falling.

Either that or the FZ sank so far in the mud it couldn't fall over Wink

Well done,I know how you feel.
At the end of last summer I over cooked it into a left hander, saw the road was clear so went 'a bit' wide, ended up parallel with the road in a ditch travelling along fast enough for the bike to do a few bunny hops and jumps,I had to stay in ditch until the traffic cleared again so I could get back across. Embarassed

All this on a gixer 600! Laughing

Stevie
PS;I kept the foliage I caught in my boot for good luck, dont think I could do it again!Ha Ha!

I was following keith at the time so here is my bit of the story.

We were tootling along all following keith down this really flat and twisty country road. It wasn't raining however the roads were wet.
We were approaching a lovely clear left hand bend nothing was coming the other way, so keith moved onto the other side of the road to use all the space.

All looks fine until he sort of wobbles (as if front let go slightly) and at the same time his left foot shoots out as if to take the corner supermoto style (foot out rather than knee down) Instead of leaning into the bend the bike straightened up and keith shot off the edge of the road and disappears.

We all shit our selves, assuming no one could possibly stay on a bike at 50mph after shooting down a 4 foot drop onto a muddy field... We slow down getting ready to dig keith and bike out of the mud... But just then keith appears riding along as if nothing had happened through a potato field parallel to us.

We then pulled over, had a hell of a laugh, took photos then left! Everytime I think about it I can't help but chuckle to my self Razz

A stunt you couldn't have scripted better. Sounds like the kind of incident that everyone would have loved to have seen, everyone would have loved to have pulled off - but doesn't envy being in your seat that day Wink

Hi

To add to what Mike says, I moved out to the right hand side of the road. Visability was good and I just decided to give the tyres an easier time by taking the bend gently. We were only doing around 40~50mph. Just as I turned in I felt the front end go (and this was while barely turning). I straightened a bit and tried again, but basically bottled it and ran wide. Probably if I had tried to turn in harder I would have got away with it.

I don't remember my foot coming off the footrest, but as I have hurt it by clouting it on something it does not surprise me.

I have no idea how I stayed on the bike, and while going over the bank I certainly expected to both be in pain and have a large repair bill. Somehow I managed to stay upright and moving, so I kept on moving to try and get out of the field.

Anyway, basically a minor road problem which caused me to leave the road because I did not react correctly.

All the best

Keith

Hi

No need for modesty, when my own screw up caused the incident.

All the best
