Saw this and fell in love instantly...... However, They guy has it listed as an NC30 bu it is on an N plate registered in 2005. He also lists the model year as 2005? Now am I right in thinking that if the model year is 2005, then this cannot be an NC30 but would actually be an NC35. I have spoken to the guy selling it and he knows shit all about bikes.

EDIT: I cant tell by the pictures if it has USD forks and the guy didnt know Rolling Eyes , but even if it has the bike has got TFX suspension which could have included USD forks.

If it is a 35 then it is worth £3k IMO, but if it is a 30 I wont be paying that much for it.

Its not worth that money in a month of sundays.

However, it could well be a 1995 NC30. the NC30 was still constructed in parallel with the NC35 until the late '90s. It could also be something to do with the import process, as I have seen early bikes on late plates because they were given a registration from the year of import rather than the year of manufacturer.

If it is an NC35, then its worth even less because they are less powerful than the NC30. The only reason that people will want one is for the NC35 look which has gone.

Shereen, if you pay more than £2k for that then you're a chump. I don't think its even worth that IMO. If it were me, I'd pay £1800 tops and I might still feel like I'd been done.

Some idiot will probably pay it though...

They don't look like USDs - there's chromed metal up by the clip-ons, and the axle clamp is too tall for a USD fork leg, I think. I'd leave it be.

Not upside down forks - you can see it going straight up from the spindle.

Also, as the photo's flat, the rear wheel looks to be bigger - the NC35 had a 17" rear I believe.

A lot of money for some cheap Asian plastic and some unknown suspension mods.

Bikes often end up with weird years after-import.

Definitely RWU forks, import bikes on logbooks...along with cars have odd dates.

My Supra was down as a 2004.. it is a 1994 model Laughing

I think it's very pretty. If you like it, go have a look. Yes it might be overpriced but if thats what you want and you know you will probably take a loss when you come to sell it, wtf. Thumbs Up

Looks like a 'tarted' up NC30 to me too.
RWU forks and 18" rear wheel are dead give aways.

The model year will be in the 10th digit of the VIN. You'll also want to see the V5C and get its reference number to check the MOT history online, including the recorded "mileage" and any fails that he won't tell you about.

Since the seller doesn't even know if the odometer is miles or km, I'd expect that the "quarterly wash and polish" he's treated it to is the only maintenance that he's bothered to do.

What the heck though, bikes are daft things anyway, some other chump will have it if you don't, and if it's a lemon you'll doubtless be able to sell it on.

It has TFX Suspension. And the cheap asian plastics are actually RCV Tyga fairings which were painted by Tyga. A lot of money as gone into the bike. When I spoke to the guy he said it is mint, it has a couple of small stone chips on the belly but that is it. He knows the last owner who is the guy that had all the work down to it, and he said he was really anal about the bike, everything had to be perfect.

It might not be to everyones taste and it might be over priced but I really like it. And it has the standout abilty that I want. It doesnt even look like an NC30! I thought it looked like an aprillia at first.

EDIT: I wont be paying 3K for it though.

Have you seen it in person? Until you have, it's not worth defending it, I reckon.
I'm not disputing that it looks good, but if all you've got to go on is a phone conversation and an eBay ad, then they're asking too much, and potentially bullshitting. How can he definitively tell you the suspension manufacturer, if he's not even sure which way up the forks are?

Of course I wont buy it until I had a look at it. If the bike is as it looks and as the guy describes it, then its worth money. The guy who has it now has the paperwork from TFX. Im waiting for him to send me some more pictures of the bike. I will make up my mind from them whether to go look at it. It is a 400 mile round trip so I need to be sure Thumbs Up

Its an old bike trying to look modern. Strip the plastic away and its still an old bike.

To be honest, your current 400 looks way better. If I was going to spend 3K on a 400 classic I would go for this one.

At least it looks like what it is.

I presumed Tyga, thus saying 'asian' rather than 'Chinese' Smile (which mostly just do replicas of stock suspension.)

Not heard of TFX suspension myself.
But even with a known-to-be-good brand, without knowing what's been done, you could easily end up with the bike worse than standard.
It could be as simple as a different spring on one end, which may not even be right for you. Or, it could be complete fresh fork internals and a top of the range replacement shock.
