For me, I'd love a Versys or a V-Strom for the taller rider.
Sit on both, test drive if poss then make decision.
I'd like to think one of them would be my next bike, not that I'm tall, it's just I like em
If you have a more commute oriented journey then probably the Versys is the better choice. ____________________ My Lane Position is always AWESOME!! |

Bandit 6? I brought one after passing my test, im 5'11 and had enough leg room... If I could afford to get a 2nd bike, I would get another Bandit - think there a lil bit awesome IMO |

I'm 6'2" with 34" inside leg. How much leg-room do you want?
My VF1000 fits me pretty much perfectly, with it's trail bike 32" seat height, and low , slightly rear-set foot-pegs and a nice long reach to the bars.
I felt cramped on a 1200 Bandit, but the CB125 feels positively spacious.
My DT 125 with 2" lift, fits nice when sat at rest; thanks to its 30+" seat height, but a bit cramped on the move, thanks to the 7" of ground clearance and consequently high footpegs.
My CB750, felt rather weeny when I got it, but lower bars, slightly rearset footpeg hangers and 4" over length shocks has sort of stretched out the ergonomics a bit.
Bottom line is; engine displacement, physical size and overall ergonomics are only loosely related, if at all, AND pushing the percentile tails around the normal distribution of human sizes.... plenty that can be done to make a bike fit better!
And while the common conception is that Trailies with tall seats suit tall people, and cruisers with low slung saddles suit the vertically challenged; its actually doesn't always follow.
Mentioned the high ground clearance on my DT means that foot-peg to seat distance is actually quite short, despite the tall seat to floor height, then 'forward' riding position pushes you up close to the bars, so it's actually more 'compact' or cramped a riding position than a regular road bike... its just further from the floor!
Conversely cruisers, for all the seat might only put your bum 12" from the deck, stretched out 'highway pegs' can mean any-one with shorter legs attracted to one for that low seat, cant actually reach the foot-pegs, or the similarly stretched out handle-bars!
Snowie, my 5'7" O/H was sold a cruiser on that basis, and spent two years griping about it, before I came alonmg and pointed out it wasn't any wonder she struggled to ride it... with her short little arms he was having to lean the wrong way to hold onto the handle-bars when she went round corners!
Go do the rounds of the dealers and just sit bikes and see what they feel like; IF you can try them for size on their stands with BOTH feet on the pegs, and off their stands feet on the floor. See what 'fits', & remember, they are made of metal, their dimensions aren't cast in stone, and you can fit longer or shorter shocks or dog-bones to adjust ride height, different bars or peg hangers, even different seats to adjust ergonomics to suit. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

We've all been there, we love the look of the 600cc and 1000cc motorcycles but we realize we don't yet have the skills to pilot them. The smart ones will pic a smaller motorcycle and deal with the outdated looks of their beginner bikes, the not so smart ones may go out and buy that 600cc machine and see it crashed before their first month. Now you don't have to choose, because here are a few motorcycles that are low displacement, but still have racer inspired stylings that will get you all the looks at your local star bucks. ____________________ hotel in ahmedabad |
