Greetings one and all!
I spotted a Suzuki parked up in the city center last year, around November and it has not moved since!
I'm convinced that the thing has been dumped and I'm wondering if there is any way I can claim it.
What do you guys think?

This has been debated many times on here and it always comes back to the same conclusion.
Leave it alone it does not belong to you it does not matter how long it has been there people have the right to leave there stuff out as long as they want without somebody coming along and deciding to take it.

Would you still think that way if it was parked on someones drive?

If you think its been dumped then there are people to tell but its unlikely they give you a call and say 'so do you fancy having this bike?' Its better if you know who owned it and speak to them. Apart from that its basically just theft

A bike that's not been used over winter? Inconceivable!

Urgh, OK. With the caveat that you're basing your assumption more on wanting a free bike than on the observable facts, I have to note that if it's left there then it will eventually be stolen by pikeys, either the scabby variety, or one with a clipboard and a hi-vis.

So if you want to be the least bad sort of pikey:

1) Contact the local neighbourhood policing team. Tell them that you think it's been abandoned and ask for their help in forwarding an offer - essentially, give them a stamped envelope and ask them to put the address on it.

2) Same with the DVLA.

3) Report it to the council as an abandoned vehicle, they'll send a pikey with a clipboard and hi-vis to steal it and everybody loses.

4) Apply (fraudulently) to the DVLA for a V5C, they'll write to the registered keeper, if they don't hear anything, you get the V5C which is for most practical purposes evidence of ownership (despite the FONT OF GOD denial of this on it).

If that's not taking reasonable steps to identify the owner, then I don't know what is.

That said, it's probably owned by a squaddie who's out healing kittens in Iraqistan, how very dare you and so on, you'll burn in pikey hell, I'd rip off your head and sh1t down your throat if you did that to my bike, and all the usual stuff.

Report it to the police as 'lost property'.

I know a guy who got an old yacht that way...

Aye, I've had this before. I live a city centre, don't use the bike often but it's parked in the street.

A few times when starting up the ZX9R other bikers said they thought it was abandoned

Just find out who the owner is and contact him about it.

I remember a simular thread a while ago, but everyone agreed that if its not your then dont touch it.

Also, my bike has only been out of my garrage a handfull of times since november. doesnt mean some idiot can come steal it...

Its only been there for 4 months?

Some of the other threads that have popped up about this the bikes have been there for atleast 1-2 years, and people are still dubious about whether its right or not. Im at uni with my bike left at home, its been sat there since september. I wouldnt want anyone claiming it

Go 'ed lad just take it, screw em, screw the system, screw everything, take the damn motorcycle, that's how it works here in Liverpool so that's how it works everywhere, just take the stupid thing and screw anyone who says otherwise.

Nah seriously don't. It's not yours. Close the thread.
