 |
|
Looking at servicing my bike in the not too distant future.
The plan is to replace the clutch cable as the bike is a 99 and still using the original clutch cable so cannot be fairing too well, the clutch is a bit vague on my bike too. The lever and that has always been well maintained and lubed but for the cost and peice of mind of a new cable i'd like to replace it.
More to the point, i've seen a cheaper than EBC clutch kit seen here again the bikes on original plates and has had a "hard" life, more so with me pulling wheelies and such.
Would you trust it or should I just stick with EBC plates as they have never let me down? Has anyone used the ones i've linked to and how would you rate them?
Thanks in advance. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

From what i can recall that happened to their shitty organic pads which i never use. I fitted more than enough sets of EBC pads and never had a failure to mine or a customers bike. Also brakes aren't a clutch part mate. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

I've always bought cheap parts and rarely had any problems at all. I think the deciding factor is how long you intend to keep the bike for. If you're selling it just stick whatever in. If you're keeping it imagine spreading the additional cost of parts out over the years. The better plates will cost you about £5 a year more |

Chill, every single bike has been ragged, regardless.
There is always the chance an expensive part can fail anyway. |

Im not suggesting people must spend fortunes, read my initial post. A cheaper than OE part is fine, so long as its a reliable, reputable brand.
However, Fitting something you actively know is shite, and wont last 5mins, for the purpose of selling the bike just seems plain wrong to me.
Pattern parts are no problem, so long as they are from a reputable company and have a proven track record as it were.
That said, I have always kept my vehicles up to standard, so when its come time to sell, there has been nothing wrong with them in the first place.
Wear and tear items i usually replace before they need it, stuff like brakes, tyres, bearings etc. Id rather do preventative maintenance than reactive repairs. |

From a car perspective, EBC clutches are the worst I've personally come across. Often they're refurbed units too, years after everybody else stopped selling them, even ECP's "budget" Chinese stuff tends to be better quality out the box, and better to drive with.
I only have experience of cars, but people broadly are terrified of pattern parts which is daft, on balance I'd say over 50% of the time the parts are identical (same casting numbers etc) to whatever came off as OE equipment.
There is some dross about, don't buy from eBay is my advice, but providing you buy from a good source, with proper invoices and comeback, and you actually check a part over before you fit it, I rarely can see a problem.
Regards,
