Hopefully a quick easy question for Sunday morning.

Does anyone know the wiring route of the GPz750 fuel tank sender, I've got the sender off, there was a white and yellow wire that had been cut and a spade with no wire attached.

I tried connecting it up to a battery and through the fuel dial, there is 3 wires going into the fuel dial and I've tried all combinations and none of them work properly. when I connect 2 of them up the gauge jumps straight to the top and if I move the fuel level float the wire inside the sender ends up glowing, which I know would probably be a bad idea in a tank of petrol.

Should there be something between the battery, sender and the gauge that reduces the power?
