Not bike related really, but over the past few days I have been cleaning up and part restoring a low level long reach high lift jack I blagged for free.
Was gained by a mate a fair few years ago, and now I have gained it from that mate, although he is free to take it back when he needs it, now given it came from a workshop environment that worked with metal and stuff it was hanging, as in scrape all the crap off it first.
As it arrived

As you can see fairly minging, was degreased about 4 times and scrubbed, sadly I forgot to take any pictures of it after getting it down to bare metal.
The paint job isn't the best, but I am going to be using the jack so would prefer just an easy touch in as opposed to hours of fixing.
Part finished, clear coat is still wet in these pictures, still a fair bit to do, going to take front wheels off probably and properly clean them up, and clean out all the crappy grease out, then I need to get a grease gun and a mess load of grease as everything on this jack has a grease nipples, even the wheels have grease nipples (they don't make them like they used to eh?)

Next job is the inside (obviously I have already pre cleaned most of this, so will just be a detail inside really)

It just makes my clean workshop look tidier, not my best but to be honest, it is a jack that is going to be covered in grease and oil and knocked about, as I said, more a quick clean up just to get paint to stick to it, full steps
Degrease 4 times with water based degreaser and a brush
Dried off with acetone and cloth
Wire brushed and sanded
Acetoned again
Etch primered as on bare metal
5 coats of red
4 coats of clear
3 coats of black ____________________ Stinkwheel: You have no right to free speech
