Evil or Very Mad On my way to work this morning. Now, do I take the nail out leave it in? Can't let my tyre go down as I literally have no way of getting home without my bike. Also, my ride home consists of 2 very long 50mph A-roads, so don't fancy having my wheel shredding on me. Sad

All I can say is thank fudge I didn't put my new tyre on yesterday!!

Similar thing happened to me a while ago and I was stranded with my bike at a petrol station.

I called every local garage to see if they could help and most said they could do it next week or something. In the end, a bike place came and put my bike up on the centre stand, took the wheel away, plugged the hole and brought it back and put it on. Cost me £50 but it was worth it to get it dealt with right there and then. Took them less than half an hour! And then a week later I ran over a screw in my own garage and had to get new tyres because it was right next to the plug...

I've heard there are products you can get to seal the hole like Slime sealant or something. Could try that?

Bad luck!

If you can get to a Halfrauds, they sell stuff you can put into the tyre to seal it (similar to 'Goop' but their own version, I think).

I carry a can of Holts Tyre Seal in the car, and have used that in the past to get me home.

If you are anywhere near Birmingham or Stourbridge, I might be able to help you out with a repair.

Found this.. Though it says it's for bicycle tyres. Might run to the local garage on my dinner break and see if they have any. I wish I had the money to sort it properly but I'm a romantic so Valentines has broke me.. Gutted.

I'm actually in Birmingham City centre, I work on Broad street. You know where the nearest halfords is in town?
I don't really need a repair, just a quick fix, have a brand new tyre waiting to be put on when I can be bothered to sort it.

That will get you home, and would probably last a couple of days, but you might need more than one for a motorcycle tyre.

I have got a proper repair kit that will fix the puncture and last the life of the tyre.

I'm not doing anything today as the car is in for an MOT, so let me know if I can help.

I'm 5 miles from you - got to take the car in at 10am, so could be with you at 10:30, or leave it until lunchtime?

Nearest Halfords is near J2 M5 Worverhampton Road, but it is really no trouble for me if you want to PM the exact address and give me a time (after 10:30)

Alan.

The tyres bald and square so, this is the kick up the arse I need. Nice one for the offer though mate, just don't want to get it sorted then forget about changing the tyre for another couple of weeks. Karma
where abouts do you live anyway?

I live in Cradley Heath, near Halesowen.

Not worth spending too much then, but my offer is good! The repair option will cost you nothing and get you home safe.

Actually mate, you're right. I'll PM you the address. Unless you want me to meet you somewhere? It will have to be between 12 and 1 if that's ok?

Massive Thanks to Taught for coming down!!
Have to also say sorry for wasting his time, the nail wasn't big enough to actually puncture my tyre...

Good meeting you though!

Glad you got it sorted out!

I was just gonna say about not leaving it in if you can help it. After having a very scary blow out on my Honda PS125i it was discovered there was a nail in the tire.

Sod's law was I hadn't checked over my tires for a few days after having a busy week at work/uni.

Happy to help!

It turned out to be a small cable-clip with most of the plastic part still in place, so only about 5mm of nail going into the thickest part of the tyre.

I am running with 'Goop' in my tyres, after an incident with a 4" nail last year.

Uber Karma for saving the day. Or planning to save the day if Flemy *actually* had a puncture. Thumbs Up Laughing

I had a dirty great bolt through the rear tyre of my bike within 2 weeks of getting it Mad
