My mates dad can walk over a mile to the pub but has an disabled badge and a car Neutral I've got to ask why.

Actually, it's not difficult to get blue badges and benefits. There was a debate on tele a few months ago about it and lots of people do manipulate the system. I used to work at a GP's surgery and I asked the Doc about it too. He said it's really difficult to stop people from wrongly claiming disability benefits / badges as they can insist they have a problem - not always physically visible (like extreme migraines). I remember the lady on the show justifying her receiving benefits by saying she was a "separated/single parent and had to send her kid to private school". IMHO, absolutely pathetic. Evil or Very Mad

But it could be argued that by using contraception they have tried to avoid that situation, therefore they did not make a conscious choice to have the child.

Possibly, but then they chose to be in a position to need to use contaceptives.

Sorry, but they have put themselves in this position and can deal with it themselves.

If anything is to be given to them then I would say stuff giving it to the parents but invest it in education.

Maybe, but it took Charlotte years to get a blue badge after the hospital made a mess of her leg.

All the best

I have to say I completely agree with Keith with regards to parent & toddler parking spaces.

Agreed, they may need more room when opening car doors etc to get pushchairs/prams/baby cots in and out of the car. There is a far more simple solution, and that is what Gavin suggested - find a space that has ample room (usually one that is a little further away from the door).
I do not see the difficulty in them walking an extra 100m or so (especially when they are going shopping and are about to embark on a several mile amble around shops/shelves etc).

As for the original article, it does have it's values, admittedly it is incredibly biased and reads quite unfairly for bikers. However, the truth of the matter is is that we must begin to accept that bikers are perceived as thugs and hooligans due to a few riding dangerously and down right stupidly.
