chisel the head off and knock it through with a punch if you need to. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. If it is stainless, just hammering it on full speed will only heat it up and then you are in a word of trouble.
Get a decent bit, and only pulse the trigger, so the drill is spinning slowly. This way you will avoid heating it up, and kill the bit plus hardening the rivet.
Generally rivets are a quick 5minute thing, with drill the head and then it falls off and the peice comes off with a bit of force. If you can't get through the head then you have a blunt bit.
Doesn't matter what they are made from of they are blunt, then you might as well be using a feather duster. Quick way to check them if not crude a hell. Put the bit cutting edge down in the palm of your hand. Then turn it, if it is sharp you should feel it picking up your skin and grip tight. If not, it is blunt, and then it is time for the grind stone.
Most people get sharpening drill bits wrong, but a easy way to do it is, get 2 nuts and put them together, the angle between them is what you are aiming for, and also do part of one side, then do the other and keep checking it is the same edge each way. If not the drill will vibrate rather horribly and make a mess of your piece.
Quick tip:
If you start to see blue swarf then your too hot. |

On second thoughts, have you knocked the pin through before drilling? ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles.
