Hello,

I always get confused with this.

My Z is currently sorned.

I have an MOT until the 20th March 2012.

It is insured.

It isn't taxed.

I am wanting to tax the bike, so I can get it serviced and some paint work done and prepare it for it's MOT.

However can I tax it online/post office on the 1st March? (My reason being I don't have an MOT for all of March).

Or do I have to do it before the end of February.

(I would prefer to wait till March, but if I have to do it now so be it).

Thanks guys.

From what I remember, you cannot re-tax the car if the MOT is due to expire within the next X days... I think X is 7.

I'd tax it as soon as possible.

From DirectGov website "You must produce an MOT test certificate that’s valid on the day the tax disc comes into force."

I think it says the same somewhere on the reminder.

As above, you'll have to tax it to begin on a date before the MoT expires. I am in this boat myself - my KDX MoT expires later this month (Feb) and I just got the tax reminder for 1 March - I can't tax it until I get the MoT done (and I can't do that because the top end of the engine is 8 miles away from the rest of the bike). I'll have to either get my finger out and fix the engine or SORN it.

I'd do it now if I were you.
