At first i thought it was me, cause i aint been on a bike in some 20 months before this. Now im convinced the stock tyres on a hornet are shite.

About 5 times now it has gone sliding round corners and im barely even trying.

So, Any recommendations for reasonably soft tyres? Some that will last more than a few hundred miles yet give a decent amount of grip for the likes of me.

Just got 010's on my CBR and I'm finding them very nice.

I have never had a bike long enough to buy a tyre for it...

More details for the blonde please.

If you search a number of bike sites similar to this there are many threads on the pros and cons of tyre choices and what suits each individual bike.

I use Bridgestones too but it may be advisable to visit a bike specific site to ascertain what other riders of Hornets prefer.

Aye, good idea Steve.

To be honest though i was being as lazy as possbile for a change and letting everyone else tell me what the best are instead of finding out for myself.

Embarassed ...........

What tires have you got on your hornet? I have Brigstones, BT45's I think. Seam ok, though I’m not the hardest rider out there.

The BT45 is a cross ply tyre intended for 80's sports bikes with skinny rims. Generally they have a good reputation, but a useless for motocross use.

All the best

I have two shiny new Avon Azaro Sps on mine ready to get scrubbed in as soon as the last fairing panel is fitted and before the first Elvington in two weeks I hope.

The have come on great recommendation from many busa and 12 riders - I know of fast busa riders who can get more than 5000 miles from a rear ST, although they don't like the front ST and fit a SP/ST combo.

The best thing, I got my pair for £130 at the Ally Pally and you can get a pack of three (2 rears on front) for £180 from bells motorcycles (I think) - try google

If you try it with BT45s the treads get all full of mud like this.

All the best
