After crashing the xr250 a couple of weeks ago. I have slightly neglected it at the moment.

I have bent back the footrest and put some second-hand hand guards on.

There are some little white specks on the engine. I have been riding it all winter . Do i need to clean these off and add some sort of corrasion spray ?

Also in the crash i have managed to brake the exhaust header and when i start the bike , some smoke bellows out from there and the stock exhaust looks rather bent.
Is there any where to get spare parts that arent in america?
thanks

Thats normal - just clean them off. Not aware of an product which will stop this coming back - it just happens with age with these bikes. The heat of the engine burns off any polish etc.

Question is how badly is it broken? If its a crack or a hole then it can be welded up. If it is hanging off then another header pipe is probably the way to go.

Scour ebay or have a look on xrv.org.uk and see if anyone has any exhaust headers on there. If you need a replacement there are aftermarket ones avaliable for a lot of cash brand new, I picked up an FMF from the bay for £70 inc P&P. Are the studs for the header still straight? When you say that you have broken the header do you mean that it has split or got a hole in it?

I still have my stock end can if you need one of those?

This is a standard XR250R silencer on the rear of my XR400R.It bolts up easily but is noticeably shorter than the standard one for the 400.

This is the standard 400 silencer with an insert from the USA that replaces the standard 'peashooter'.

This is the DEP alloy silencer that I used to only use when racing the 400 in enduros as it is a little too noisey for greenlaning.

This is how the shorter XR250 and longer XR400 silencers compare.

This is my DEP silencer on the standard XR250 downpipes. These do seem to compare quite well between the two but I am not sure if they are compatible.

My DEP silencer fits perfectly onto a XR250R but unfortunately DEP do not sell these anymore.
