I'm sure if you offer Danny enough money he'll let you pick him up and whack the kick start with his head as hard as you can several times each morning, easy money for him, he doesn't even have to do anything.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

A friend of mine had a DR-Z 400 and that had some monster compression on it. I never managed to kickstart it. In my thinner days I could stand on the kickstart and still it'd hardly budge!

Mate had a lot of fun pulling what he said was the decompression lever when I was stood there though! Didn't even know you could get them!

Hi

Years ago a guy I knew had a 420cc KTM 2 stroke crosser (he got it free with a bike trailer). If I stood on the kick start I could not get it to move. The normal way that bike was started from cold was to heat the spark plug up with a blow torch, then tow start it with a car.

All the best

Keith

When I was about 14 my friend picked up a KX500 (which I think was actually a 420) for peanuts. It needed work but was up and running within the week. It had a front brake that just about worked, no clutch, no back brake and no kickstart. We bump started it everywhere and rode it everywhere. It ended up that no-one would ride it except me and I had a lot of fun on that thing. It used tons and tons of petrol though. Confused

Easy, bump start it in 1st gear then change gear by slamming it through the gears. Trust me, I rode this bike like this for quite a while. Shocked (Oh and I meant that the clutch wouldn't disengage so in effect it was like I had no clutch lever)

We actually found out later on that the pressure plate had been put in the wrong way, or something like that, so we swapped it around and then we had a clutch. Wink
