They were on sale the other month. Works great for removing the last bits of grime, but not too good for really dirty items.

My MTB cassette and chain went through (after some pre-cleaning) it and came out sparkly clean after a few sessions.

Yeah checked the website too and no sign of them on there so can only guess that its a one off for that particular store.

They do that sometimes if they have a small stock of something either to try the market or just get rid of.

thats cheap, do they work well ? what will they remove ? dirt grime oil what about aluminum that has furred up ?

is it a chemical thing or just cleaning.

They remove stubborn dirt by shaking it. They're not too good with grime / oil / grease. Excellent for knocks and crannies / internal parts.

I'm planning on using mine for cleaning threads on old bolts / cycle chains / sockets.

They don't remove corrosion.

I assume you can use any fluid for cleaning? So using degreaser instead of water would be ok??
Might get one.

I thought they used nucleation to accelerate the effects of a mild solvent? So special cleaning fluid will work best.

Proper cleaning fluid for ultrsonic cleaners is obviously best, but on ship, when we run out of that we have used washing up liquid, electronic cleaning liquid, and even just warm water when we weren't sure about certain components. They all work to some extent.
