Everyones seen the yam crosser but have a look here...

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/detail?sectionID=50677&documentID=115794

There seems to have been allot of development and money thrown about, certainly looks interesting anyway, could be the most important development in motorcycles since disc brakes.. Thumbs Up

Note the date on that article zero. I thought the pictures rang a bell.

I think if that development was soo ground breaking we would have heard a little more about it over the past 2 years*.

*On sporty bikes such as the R1 at least.

oh aye Laughing got it from another forum presumed it was new Embarassed , i remember seeing the crosser article last year or something but never saw this, i would have thought on race bikes the extra weight would not be worth the grip increase but in practical real world slippery roundabout world it would be immensely useful!
I'd imagine BMW doing something with it actually, it would suit the upright adventure type bikes well...

I read something about it again recently in one of the bike mags. It's supposed to still be in development though I think, something about the extra weight of the other engine to power the front.

They were saying how exciting it will be if Yamaha get it right after the recent success of the crosser version.

Don't think they're twin engined mate! They've got a hydraulic link with the front wheel so if the rear wheel starts to spin more than the front power is fed into the front mechanically. Won't add much weight at all compared to the benefit it will bring.

Will effectively pull the front of the bike around the corner making understeer much less likely.

"The system comprises a pump connected by flexible hoses to a hydraulic engine located in the hub of the front wheel."

Think it is.

It's not an engine though, they have worded that incorrectly. It's just a pump that spins the front wheel from the power of the pump that is powered by the front sprocket which is powered by the engine. Mr. Green
