Ive had my reliable honda xr 125 now for over a year but ill be honest...its making riding boring for me!

its so frustrating when im travelling not being able to overtake on single lane carriage ways or go in the fast lane on a dual lane . I kept the bike as i passed my CBT and then a few months later passed my bg bike test.

my question is what I should do witht he bike sell or swap?

my honda has 12 months M.O.T

Offer it to sell and make offers to P/X for a bigger bike, some people will take smaller bikes as projects and sell them later in the summer etc when the prices go up Wink

Just get a bigger bike then if you've got a full license?

Simples Thumbs Up
Either hold on to your old one and take it off the road (or dont and have it as a zippy doo-da)

Or flog it off, I dont think those bikes depreciate much so no rush Thumbs Up

Patience is a virtue.

I edited my post after actually reading the thread properly Thumbs Up

Personally, i'd either cancel the insurance or ride it out, depending on whether the first is possible (think you get 14 days to cancel the contract if its finance payments)

Why not get something a little more reasonable then? A 500 twin, a 600 such as a Bandit or Hornet. You don't have to jump on a super sports if you can't afford it!

Oh and you can switch bike mid-policy. Most insurers will just charge you the extra it would have cost, plus a little admin fee. No big deal Thumbs Up

Doesn't make a huge amount of difference really - most insurance company "pay monthly" jobs, are actually a case of a finance company paying off the insurance co. and then allowing you to pay them off with interest. Cancelling your insurance in such a case has no effect on your finance agreement - you still have to sort that out separately.

You may be pleasantly surprised if you step up to a sensible bigger bike though, I changed my insurance from my Varadero 125, with 15.6bhp and a full license, to a Fazer 600 with about 95bhp as far as the insurance co. knows, and got a refund of £25 Wink. It's all based on stats, which is a dark art, and may not necessarily follow common sense.

It was a smart move Thumbs Up

Paying monthly is taking out a loan. Ending policy at many points can actually mean you have to pay them for the privilege of cancelling.....

Some 125 policies will not let you change to a larger bike. Might be worth checking with broker before you go changing bike Thumbs Up

Sell the XR to me? I'll be interested if you do.

I could also bring my CBR 600 for you to have a sit on/feel for it.

I had an XR 125 when I was 17-19 (now want another one)

I did my test at 17, so at 19 went out and bought a CBR 600 (91 plate) for £900. Insurance TPTF was about £530.

It went down a lot year on year and now I can insure it for about £80 and I'm 24 now.

It's not for sale btw, would just be showing you what it's like.

PM me if interested in selling the XR.

Reasonable indeed.

'Think' starts with Th btw not an F,
TH used to be one letter known as a 'thorn' and was typed YE in old print, that's why you find shops called like "Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe"

You actually pronounced the Ye, 'The'

True story bro Thumbs Up

Unless it's too far away, why not? nothing to lose!

But i'd get some more knowledgeable types in this thread, i'm noobier than you no doubt

But that's a ten year old bike Wink
But it looks like its in good nick.

If you check it out bring someone more experienced with you, else you'll just be like oo this looks nice and not really know what to look for other than sitting on it and seeing if you like its 'feel' Mr. Green
