The only brands I won't buy are dodgy Chinese bikes. Oh, and Harley Davidsons.

I'm not sure how you can find a brand of motorbike homosexual....

Especially a brand that has made this beauty:

Personally I've never been a great fan of KTM. Would probably have a RC8 though Razz

Anything chinese, because they will break/rust and are of a poor quality.

Anything Italian, because when I want a part for my bike, I actually would like it the same week, not after a 4 month wait.

Ducati and Harley Davidson.

The brands are just too image concious for me and the fanbois do my head in.

I'd also do my best to avoid a bike with Brembo brakes.

I'm surprised so many bikers hate on Harley, probably because to people who don't know bikes, the first thing they think of is massive angry harleys and hairy bikers named chad Thumbs Up

I'd actually really quite like a Dakar BMW, and I very nearly bought the f650gs twin.

I jst hate the way you are treated in garages that never have to sell their stuff or give good customer service since everyone that walks through the doors is already ready to blow 10k. The same is true of the mini garages, which I had the unpleasant experience of once finding myself in. Apple stores are the same.

I think it's more that they do know bikes. That marque is purely paying a loaded price for the brand/lifestyle. If that's what you want, fine.

I don't hate Harleys, they sound horrible and they're cumbersome and the brakes are sh*t but they are beautiful to look at. I think the only reason I wouldn't buy a Harley even if I was a multi-millionaire is my hatred of the Hells Angels (just put them up against a wall and shoot them all ffs) and my dislike of Hells Angels posers and wannabees.

Stupid, at least - heavy bike, low power engine. Why? At least it's economical and has fairly long service intervals, but I'll take the R1, ta.

There are a few Harleys I would consider owning, I have to admit, but mostly the ones that run nitro methanol as fuel...

Otherwise, complete dross generally. Thus some of the pure 'cruiser' brands like 'Victory' maybe.
Didn't like BMW until the RR - the 800GS had promise, but failed to deliver for a new bike.

Did you know, 98% of all Hardly Abletoos ever made are still on the road. The other 2% actually made it home.

Out of that figure 32% of them melted in the UK rain on the way home. 48% of them vibrated themselves to bits and the rest are still sitting in the middle of a roundabout wondering who put that big circle thing in the middle of the road and how do they get around it!

As for what bike I wouldnt buy. I'm with the OP, I wouldnt buy that BM. Yes it does exactly what it says on the tin but from the front it looks like its got a serious squint going on and that to me makes it one of the fugliest things I have ever seen.

I wouldnt own the RC8 from KTM for the simple fact that one day I was pushing 120 on a "private" road one day when one of those things passed me like I was stopped so I would probably kill myself to death on one of them.

Harley Davidson-poor build quality, overpriced archaic farm tractors sold on looks to mid life crisis bank managers. They are fashion items, not serious motorcycles.

Hi

Not sure there are any makes I would avoid totally beyond the no name stuff (ie, mainly Chinese clone bikes).

Harley don't really make anything that appeals. If I were in the market for a cruiser then the only ones that appeal are the V Rod and derivatives, and a Victory would probably knock them out of the running (ie, to me with a cruiser the main buying point would be styling, something most Harleys are sorely lacking).

Plenty of models from other makers that don't appeal, but most also have models that do have some appeal or at least I can see some appeal (ie, KTM with off road bikes, which have limited direct appeal to a short arse who rides on the road).

All the best

Keith

I'd buy any brand. How much I'd be willing to pay is another thing.

Why's that? Would you have been happy buying one when they had a Suzuki badge on them?

I realise that the question is indeed about "brand" and not make, but being sniffy about one funny-foreign-name over a slightly more familiar funny-foreign-name seems a bit peculiar.

Also curious as to why.

I would ride anything, no question.

I wouldn't buy anything though.

I suppose I would shy away from chinese bikes and harleys, wouldn't mind trying a buell but their models look very...eccentric.

I think you meant BMW 1200RT series. But having bought TDM900, I think they are in the same group(somewhat).
Regarding harley, I think bank managers should buy more "Indian" instead of Harley cause it looks to have better quality(and price too).
Me : Boss Hoss and Kannon. If I want V8, I will buy a corvette.

Just most of the chinese stuff and harleys, i'd buy an older Buell though, although after hearing the trouble to get sparkplugs changed (i think it involved dropping the engine out or something equally stupid - and that was at a dealer) then that'd annoy me.

I have no interest in Harleys and as kickstart has said, they lack styling, i'd rather have a proper custom rather than a harley. They have so many models that all look very very similar and dont really change.

I want a naked for my next bike and that's highly likely to be something like an MV Brutale, or anything else I find that looks equally mean.

Suzuki,

Controversial, but I've had 2 and both were the worse bikes I have ever owned, I find most of their kit is built down to a price more than other bikes, and often the only redeeming feature is the price. The Build quality of my RXS100 was better than the Bandit 600 I had and about 100x times better than my GS500.

I'd never by one again, the GSXR's and the higher end stuff is ok but anything cheaper is terrible. I remember talking to a guy to had a DL1000, it was newer and had half the mileage of the TDM the owner cleaned it often but the quality of the finish on the metal parts was shocking paint peeling off everything and the exhausts where rusty, my grubby TDM looked much better. Thumbs Up
