Lunix file manager that displays directories as thumbnails?

Windows Explorer (from at least XP onwards) has a rinky-dink thumbnail mode where a folder thumbnail contains teeny thumbnails (pinkie nails?) of its own contents.

The wife would like to know if any Lunix file managers do anything similar, so she can find her pictures of kittens and knitting and such. I can't see anything in Nautilus or PCMan, are there any other candidates I should try? "RTFM" and "you've got the source, write your own" inevitably accepted.
